This year during the spring and fall semester, Military and Veteran Services is hosting a series of events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of military integration through the passage of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948 and Executive Order 9981.
The Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948 [Pub.L. 80-625, 62 Stat. 356] authorized women to permanently serve in all branches of the United States Armed Forces’ officer and enlisted ranks. Executive Order 9981, signed by Harry S. Truman, is one of the first official orders that initiated racial desegregation in the United States military.
Please join us to recognize monumental laws that forever changed the United States military.
All events will be free and open to the public via Zoom. Please see event details below.
