Requirements-
You must include a name, an age, a gender, sexuality, species, and if you choose human, the tribe your human resides in or is from. In addition, a description of the character’s physical appearance or an image is required. If you use a description, you should do three or more sentences (3+). Finally, a personality description and backstory. If you do a description of the character’s personality, it should be five or more sentences (5+), and if you decide to do traits instead, you must include at least ten (10) personality traits. For history, please include five or more (5+) sentences.
For some information on the people, species, and cultures, please look below. Before beginning character creation, please review the information below. You don’t have to read all of it, just scan over the bolded parts, and pick whatever one catches your eye. Then read about that people or culture, and you don’t have to worry about the rest.

***Students at the Academy are typically admitted at 18-19 years of age. They can go to college later in life, but very few are able to get in early. No one gets in earlier than 16, and those are the students who graduated high school early, or are taking college classes alongside their high school classes.

Humanoids:
Humans - Typical people from every background, in two main groups. The Khaliz, and the Tarque. The Khaliz are your stereotypical tribesmen. They live mainly in a grassland area that stretches for miles, east of Chrysos. They live in huts formed from mud and grass, with very little use of wood or stone, both of which are very difficult to access in this area. They live with a strong community structure, behaving more like a large family than a group of families. Rather than working individually, they act as a team. Older children watch younger children, the women gather, and the men hunt.
Their most popular tradition is a tournament held in early March, to welcome in the Spring. They hold a series of games, physical, mental, and spiritually centered. Those who lose die, and their bodies are buried in the fields which provide food for the people of the tribe. As they see it, that is the way that the people who failed can give back to the community- by giving their lives and their blood to feed the crops.
A major weakness for these people is that they aren’t very accepting of anyone out of the ordinary. Whether it’s someone from a different group, or even members of their own tribe. The community as a whole isn’t supportive of anyone who wants to lead a different lifestyle, kicking out anyone they deem ‘not normal’.
The Tarque are the people who live in the tropical rainforests to the west of Chrysos. Their beliefs are formed from the idea that all people have power, magical or not. They live in beautiful, intricate homes suspended in the treetops. The main disadvantage to living in this group is that they don’t have a strong form of government, or any sort of laws.
Anything is fair game, as long as you’re strong enough to fight for it, whether it’s food, a friend, or an idea. While they have many criminals and crooks, they also have brilliant people who promote incredible ideas, and push them forward, giving them incredible technological advancements, and making them the center of knowledge (aside from Chrysos) for the human population.
Aleron “Winged Ones” - This species is mostly humanoid, but with a couple of differences. The main one is their massive wings. They come in every shape, size, and color. Some have feathers, some are distinctly bat-like, and some are like those of insects. Most have brightly colored feathers, wing membranes, hair, and eyes. These humanoids typically are very solitary creatures, only really making lasting relationships with potential mates.
In rare instances- some species more than others- they can form familial groups. Typically fledglings are kicked out of the nest, so to speak, and have to learn to take care of themselves from an early age. But sometimes a parent forms an unbreakable bond with their offspring, and they can be prone to keeping a close hold to their children, emotionally suffocating them in the process.
Cordelian - The Cordelian are water-dwelling creatures. They also have the typical human build, with several differences. They can have fins, tails, or even tentacles. This is where the mermaid myth originated. They can speak telepathically with other members of their species. It’s easier with close family members, but close friends and lovers have been known to allow each other into their minds more easily.
A highly instinctively driven people, they hunt things, mostly fish. Occasionally, they’ll make a game of it. A popular one is to take turns bringing in prey, working their way up to more and more dangerous animals and creatures. These games can swiftly turn deadly.
They have a monarchy system. A king, a queen, and a royal line passed from mother to daughter. Family name: Styx
*** If you are making a royal, please read through the other royals' histories, and the Cordelian Royal Discussion topic!
Avanis - These are a tunneling people, living deep beneath the surface of the earth. Their home is mostly under Chrysos, but it reaches far and wide. Some of the tunnels haven’t been accessed in ages, and cave-ins are frequent in older and less well-maintained sections of the system.
These are typically very reliable people, and can often pass as human, but larger. Gentle giants. The main difference is the eyes, and intricate patterns across their backs that may appear to be tattoos. They mingle with humans frequently, and even marry them. By now, there are more half-breeds than there are ‘pure-bloods’ in the Avani population.
Since there’s so much danger in their way of life, so much chance of a cave-in, they have very strict rules and regulations. Things in the tunnels are very structured, and in some cases that can lead to a lack of entertainment, or pleasure. Boredom is intense.
These people, being built for burrowing, they’re very slow, and somewhat clumsy. They have thick skins, with an almost armor-like plating. However, they still look human, if not a little bulky.
These people quickly establish a strong bond when they find someone they're compatible with. This can look like a lifelong relationship of any sort, whether it's a romantic relationship, a friendship, or any other kind.
Renfreden - The Renfreden people are mostly human, with a little bit of magic in them. They’re often mute, or if they aren’t, they typically refuse to speak as a gesture of respect for those of their community who can’t. It’s a close-knit group, located mostly in Chrysos (though there are some in other places), and it can be difficult to get to know members of this group.
As a result of contact with these people, most people in Chrysos can speak sign language. It’s a required course both within the public school system, and especially in Zuko Academy. Private schools can make their own judgments on what courses to offer.
