Play Book Tag discussion

Slow Horses is a nickname for MI5 agents relegated to Slough House for screwing up. The blurb will give you more of an idea of what this is all about, but suffice it to say that it's very dark comedy thriller but it is written well enough that I finished the book because I wanted to know what happened (not just the peeking at the end sort of knowing, but what happened next.) So while I have no plans to continue this series, if you like dark thrillers with some dark humour, this may well be for you. I did have a favourite character, but am not sure if he continues on (view spoiler)[ which may be due, in part, to his not actually deserving to be there--he was set up and shafted because he was too good and ended up with photos that could compromise the main antagonist. This person is outed by the next book, but why spoil it for you even in this spoiler? Far better to start this with no idea even if you know this tidbit--it's too dark for me to continue even if he stays in it. (hide spoiler)]

There are quite a few main characters in this, which is fine with me--for some books this works well, although it could be helpful to slot a longer reading slot to start this book. I have to say that many times I've almost gone for the second book, but since I get nightmares even when reading the actual book doesn't scare me (it's fiction in print so doesn't scare me at all) I have to say no to reading more.
