Barbara M (barbara-m) | 2603 comments A quick listen and a well-read audiobook. This turned out to be a young adult novel but I hadn't known that when I began it. I had seen the movie Enola Holmes and loved it, the acting and scenes were very good.

The book was quite entertaining, especially since it was an excellent reader. Enola, whose name is Alone spelled backward - that bothers her when her mother disappears, is the much younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. On her 14th birthday, her mother leaves the house and then doesn't return even the next day, and the next. Enola sends a message to her brothers, whom she hasn't seen since she was 4 years old. She thinks of herself as a disgrace to the family. What she is is a very imaginative and daring young woman who was raised contrary to most other young women, much to both her brothers' chagrin.

My only complaint, it was over too soon and almost seemed rushed. I would recommend this to others, adults and young adults. I see that there are others in the series and I might just read some more.
