What are you planning to read in March? Anything you're looking forward to?

Leslie | 16369 comments No specific plans for me - I am just starting to ease myself back into GR. I do plan to try to make the most of my Kindle Unlimited trial as I am not expecting to continue it (I dislike paying for what is essentially a lending library). So I will probably be continuing with the Murderbot series with Rogue Protocol and perhaps Exit Strategy.

A couple of your 'very likely' books look appealing, Greg - especially the Le Guin! Maybe I will see if it is available to me :)

I actually have a couple of Buchan books on my Kindle that I have been meaning to get to. The Dancing Floor I believe is the next up - 3rd book in the Leithen series - though I might go back and reread the first 2 since it has been a while. I loved the Richard Hannay series (which you are starting with The 39 Steps) and of course the Hitchcock film version.

Leslie!!!!! So good to "see" you! :)

I went through a long period where I was on Goodreads hardly at all (and for some of that time, I wasn't reading much either), but I've come back too.

I'm enjoying The 39 Steps quite a bit. It's a book from its era with the paranoia about a Jewish cabal in the beginning, but it's still a fun, engaging, and fast moving read. I will probably continue the series at some point.

It feels a little blasphemous to say as it's a universally acknowledged film classic, but I've always preferred some of Hitchcock's other films. It could just be that I went into it knowing nothing and had been expecting a thriller rather than a spy conspiracy. This is my first time reading the actual book, and my expectations lined up better.

I definitely want to read the Murderbot series at some point. Several offline and online friends have recommended it to me, and I have a soft spot for fantasy and SF.

To each his own, as the saying goes. Maybe once you've finished the book you should try it again. Both the book and the film would be unsatisfying to people (such as my nephews) who are too rooted in today but I know you have the capacity to go back in time in your imagination :)

And thanks for the welcome back. During my absence I have been mostly rereading, I guess in an attempt to be sure that I would enjoy the books (safety and comfort reads).

“A mood reader” I think I need to borrow that description Kati!

I plan to listen to some audiobooks I've "in stall":
Holly Jackson As Good As Dead
Elizabeth Peters Crocodile on the Sandbank
Nita Prose The Maid
Robert Hellenga Love, Death & Rare Books

I will definitely read those following, since I've got presentation and/or Group Reads in my library:
Sara Durantini Annie Ernaux. Ritratto di una vita
Tove Ditlevsen Youth
Tove Ditlevsen Gift

A part from those I hope to have time this month - but I have too many things to do, so I don't really know how much free time to read I'll have a part from those titles above - to read at least some of these:
Louise Penny The Madness of Crowds
Winston Graham Ross Poldark
Joyce Maynard Labor Day
Richard Osman The Man Who Died Twice
