It's time to check in on our third book club pick from our 2023 Winter Selection.

Did you read the "All Souls Trilogy" by Deborah Harkness with us? What are your thoughts on this fantasy book series? Did you love the characters? Do you have a favorite part? Or how did you feel about the love story? The mythology?

Let us know in the comments! And feel free to start a discussion! (If you haven't read the book, you can always respond later!)

Moonflower | 41 comments This was a really interesting series. I would have liked more development of the romantic relationship before Matthew and Diana got married, but it does make sense within the context of the story. Matthew was a bit overprotective, but I think he and Diana balanced each other out pretty well. He was a really interesting Byronic hero and I liked how Diana did actually make an effort to understand him instead of arbitrarily demanding that he change his behavior. I think she'll need a really strong mate like him with all the responsibility she has now. I heard that Deborah Harkness may write more books in this world, and I hope that's true. I haven't read the book about Marcus and Phoebe yet. Has anyone read it? If so, is it as good as this trilogy? I really liked Phoebe as a character, so it's definitely on my TBR. The mythology was interesting, too. I liked the way that science, magic and alchemy overlapped. Seeing Chris and Miriam verbally spar in the lab was really fun. I think they would stay together, despite what Gallowglass thinks. Poor Gallowglass. I hope he finds some happiness in future books. I was also sad about Emily's death, but glad Sarah seemed to be finding happiness with Agatha. Jack's story almost broke my heart. I understand why Diana and Matthew couldn't take him home with them, but I wish he didn't have to deal with blood rage on top of everything else. I want more books just to see if he'll really be OK.
