Russell | 80 comments I enjoyed this title. I found it through my public library on Hoopla. It kinda reminded me of the Madeline books. The artwork is similar. As a huge fan of Lore Olympus: Volume One I was excited to read another graphic novel about Persephone. It was a nice adventure and introduced some new characters that are not cannon to the old Greek myths (that I know of).

Lore Olympus: Volume One is on my reading list, but I haven't gotten to it yet! I do like stories about Persephone in general; she's a pretty interesting character.

SuperKimbit | 59 comments So I realized this morning that I never wrote in this discussion for Persephone. When I thought this, I tried to remember, what did the art look like, what was the story and I couldn't remember! I had one look at the cover though and it all can rushing back.

I also read it on Hoopla and it was an interesting and different story about Persephone and Greek myths. I'm a big fan of mythology, but Persephone is one of characters I'm not as into.

I thought the plot of this was unique though nothing very memorable or mindblowing. I imagine I'll forget it entirely in not too long. I did like the art style though the messier style not something I normally love. I haven't read the Madeline books but I have seen a few pictures and I agree that the art style is comparable.

I thought it was weird that the Hoopla description, maybe the Good Reads one too (all I have is French edition on my phone right now), compares the art to anime. I don't watch a ton of anime bit I didn't see that at all. If anything it had a bit of a Nimona by ND Stevenson vibe but with a more sketch like quality?

I have also read Lore Olympus because a friend of mine loves the webtoon, but I'm not a huge fan. I think it likely stems from not being as interested in how the author is playing with Hades/Persephone mythology as much. I'm also less into the art style, though the colors are lovely.

Russell | 80 comments Yeah I don't really see how the art style was like anime either...at least any anime that I can remember watching.

What sorts of mythology are you interested in? I find the Egyptian myths fascinating and would love to read more about them

There is another graphic novel about Persephone:

[book:Punderworld, Volume 1

Beautiful artwork, but much softer than Lore Olympus

oops I never answered this! This is a good question and generally I think I have enjoyed most broad mythology stories. When I probe the things I have read or played (video games), I tend to like stuff that immerses me in a world where the gods are real rather than just focusing on one god.

I am also a big fan of Rick Riordan and enjoy reading his work. Have you read his Egyptian mythology series? The Red Pyramid is the first and I enjoyed it but the protagonists are a bit younger in it so I didn't find it as strong as his Greek/Roman/Norse mythology series.
