She repressed her memories to save what she could of her identity that night, and worried about her sister and brother.
I didn't think of this until you mentioned the third gunshot, Jonetta; but maybe Bree blocked out the fact that Harley was there the night her parents died. Maybe it wasn't a murder/suicide.
Yes, repressed memories. @Robin - I had my suspicions about this even in the first book I do think that Bree's father killed her mother, but someone else killed Jake.
I have to keep reminding myself that Bree was only 8-years old and her focus was on saving her siblings. All while being utterly frightened out of her mind. She seemed to have suppressed memories of everything else, which is understandable.
