I do not know what to make of his quest for identity (?) It was with Bree and his nephew and niece that he found the connections of family.
I can't see that he found anything that would actually help him come to terms with what happened. As Charlene mentioned, he is finding his connections through Bree and the kids.
Unlike Bree and Erin who had some memories of their parents, Adam was a baby and had blanks in his identity that he needed to fill. I agree that his making connections with Bree and the kids is filling in those gaps, and he realizes that nothing good would come from trying to connect to Jake and Mary through Darren.
I think Adam got what was missing for him but more importantly, it brought much needed resolutions for Bree. She needed to confront those demons and I suspect her nightmares will ease.
The mystery of that night seems to be less so for Adam, allowing him to embrace the present and, for the first time, think of the future with more hope and optimism. It’s coming out in his art.
