Our April Book of the Month is Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn. We'll plan on opening discussion around the 15th of April.

Older women often feel invisible, but sometimes that's their secret weapon.

They've spent their lives as the deadliest assassins in a clandestine international organization, but now that they're sixty years old, four women friends can't just retire - it's kill or be killed in this action-packed thriller.

Billie, Mary Alice, Helen, and Natalie have worked for the Museum, an elite network of assassins, for forty years. Now their talents are considered old-school and no one appreciates what they have to offer in an age that relies more on technology than people skills.

When the foursome is sent on an all-expenses paid vacation to mark their retirement, they are targeted by one of their own. Only the Board, the top-level members of the Museum, can order the termination of field agents, and the women realize they've been marked for death.

Now to get out alive they have to turn against their own organization, relying on experience and each other to get the job done, knowing that working together is the secret to their survival. They're about to teach the Board what it really means to be a woman--and a killer--of a certain age.

Susan (cruelshoes) | 574 comments 4 old ladies that are trained killers for me a very original story. I kept thinking which one is the one trying to kill them and was hoping it wasn't any of them because they are all original and very like-able.

Robin (robinmy) | 1410 comments I finished this book earlier in the week. I loved the originality of the story and the great characters.

Jo Ann (jojog) | 359 comments This book was such a blast! I was afraid it was going to be a cozy mystery type story but was glad there was plenty of dark and gritty. The characters were well fleshed out and interesting. I hope there's a book 2 in the near future. I was happy to read about women in my age group who are fit, mentally sharp and adventurous.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 189 comments Finished this yesterday and really enjoyed it! Feisty old ladies rule!

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 804 comments Susan, I feared that one of these ladies was the killer. Glad to see that the author was much more creative with the story. I really enjoyed reading a book about women with whom I identify (even if I am a septuagenarian!).
