The day was late, yet Leslie craved a cup of coffee. The man behind the counter knew her order and about five minutes after she walked into the door a cup of black coffee was put on the counter. After requesting a croissant and swiping her credit card, she sat down at a small table near a bright window.
In her purse she fished out her phone and checked all her social profiles. She posted a picture earlier that day of her simply waking up in the morning, and she already had 100 likes. After she checked Instagram and liked some pictures she decided she would read a book. In her bag she had only one novel, Northanger Abbey. She continued to read her book as she sipped on her coffee.

Fin glided into the coffee bar with a wode smile. He greeted the barista warmly and got a hot mocha before looking around to see where he could sit. It was quite late but it was never too late for coffee in Fin's book. The coffee shop wasn't too busy due to the later hour so Fin had the choice of practically all the tables. However, he noticed a girl sitting on her own reading which intrigued him. He very much enjoyed reading himself so he may have read the book already or be reading it currently. Fin walked towards the girl quietly and he smiled down at her when he arrived next to her table. "Hello, it's nice to meet you," Fin greeted the girl happily. "I'm Fin, and you are?" Fin asked politely, moving around the table so he was stood facing her. She looked to be about his age and very pretty, at least, she was to Fin. Not that he would ever work up the nerve to flirt with her or start a relationship or anything.
A voice caused Leslie to look up from her novel to see a boy about her age standing across from her. She looked at him with a smile on her face, for she was considered a social butterfly. If she had any chance to start a friendship with someone, she would take it.
"You mean you don't know who I am? I thought everyone knew," Leslie teased. "Oh, I am just kidding. I'm Leslie Banks. I live in the yellow house with green shudders, you've probably seen it before. Do you want to sit down?"

When the girl teased him, Fin smiled shyly and blushed, looking down at the floor. He was no good when he was teased; he always got embarrassed no matter what was said. It was just the tone of voice. It made him feely shy. When she introduced herself, Fin smiled back at her when she introduced herself. "I'm Fin, Fin Cadeer," Fin informed her politely. When she asked if he wanted to sit down, Fin nodded and sat down elegantly. He was quite graceful for someone so sporty. He held himself proud and strong, giving him a look of attractiveness which didn't really suit his shy nature.
"Do you go to Woodcreek? I feel like I've seen you around before. Maybe in the hallway," Leslie asked, but gave him no time to reply. "Anyway, Mr. Cadeer, do you come here often?"
She quickly drank all of her coffee and smiled at the boy. Leslie enjoyed making friends. Another person to say hello to in the hallway, another Twitter follower, another friend. She pushed her croissant aside and decided to eat it when she got back to the house. Her mother hadn't gotten any junk food from the grocery store and that was the only thing she would have.

Fin nodded when she asked if he went to Woodcreek. He couldn't recall seeing her at all but he didn't want to insult her by revealing this fact. Fin chuckled slightly when she asked if he came here often. If he had said it then it would have been like a cheeky pick-up line but it wasn't when a girl said it. Fin found that funny for some reason. "Um, yeah, I come here a bit. It's got nice coffee and the mochas are amazing!" Fin advised enthusiastically. He loved this place; it was so peaceful and nice. Fin took another small sip of his mocha, enjoying the sweetness of the chocolate blended perfectly with the slight bitterness of the coffee. It was perfection.
"Yeah, this is home away from home, at least for me! So, you go to Woodcreek, as I guessed. I'm in twelfth grade, how about you?" Leslie asked, brushing her long brown hair out of her face.
Leslie didn't just want to become this boys friends so she had another follower or a face she recognized, for she had enough of those. She was the Secret Keeper of Rilltown, and she knew everything about everyone. She needed to get something on this boy, and she knew just the way to do it. He seemed innocent and kind, but all people had their flaws and Leslie was the master at finding them out.

When the girl asked what grade he was in, Fin thought for a moment. His mind had gone completely blank! "Um... yeah, I think I'm in twelfth grade." Fin blurted, groaning inwardly at his stupidity. Seriously, did he really have to have a mind blank right this second? He wished he wasn't so forgetful sometimes, especially since he wanted to make friends. He probably just made loads of people think he was stupid. He just wanted someone who could be as good a friend as Sadie was. Fin still missed having a friend like her even though he hadn't seen her in ages. She probably didn't even remember him any more.
Forgetful, doesn't no his own grade level. Well thats something to start with, Leslie thought.
"Oh, really! I wonder why we have never seen each other before," she commented.
She was considered popular at school, and many people were scared of her, for she knew all their secrets. With her charming smile and good looks she could usually get people to tell her things, and if not she would kind of spy on them, with the help of her friends.
"Anyway, when did you move here? I thought I knew everyone in this small town," she added.

Fin shrugged and smiled when she commented on the fact that they hadn't see each other before. They probably had different friend groups. Fin got along with pretty much everyone but he was also quite awkward sometimes so he didn't get along as well with the really popular people like Leslie.
When Leslie asked when he moved here, Fin bit his lip and smiled awkwardly. "Um, I've actually been here since I was thirteen," Fin admitted hesitantly. Was he really that unremarkable? He definitely needed to better his image. He always got friend-zoned or ignored. Not that he had ever really met anyone he was very interested in starting a relationship with. He just got attracted to people sometimes but was too shy to flirt.
"Oh, thats cool. So you're familiar with the town, I guess. Have you ever been to one of my parties? I mean, everyone has, right?" Leslie asked.
She had thrown several parties during that summer and they were not ones to forget. Her parents went away for a vacation in the summer, and during that time the house was basically hers. During that one week her parents were gone, Leslie's house official became the party house. The police didn't show up, because truthfully they believed it was good for people to have fun in the boring town and the chief's daughter always showed up.

Fin blushed and looked down at his lap again when she asked whether he had been to one of her parties. She was right; everyone had, him included. However, he didn't really do much. He didn't get drunk or kiss someone or pop the cherry. He hung out at the back and people-watched the whole night. He wasn't exactly great at human interaction is such crowded places like parties. "Yeah... I went to one of your parties." Fin confirmed, refusing to meet Leslie's gaze in case he blushed even more and made a bigger fool of himself.
((I'm going to sleep now :) ))
(( Okay, bye! ))
"Why are you embarrassed? Did something bad happen at one of my parties? Did you get dumped or something while you were there? Oh, I know! You made a fool of yourself." She smiled then added, " I'm just teasing, Mr. Cadeer. And even if you have, everyone besides me, have made a fool of themselves at my parties."
She laughed a bit and knew that she was going to get something out of him. When it became awkward, people usually told a story or something to keep the conversation going along, especially with a pretty girl like Leslie.
"Want to know a secret?" Leslie suddenly asked, but gave him no time to answer. "You can't tell anyone, and you have to agree to tell me something."
Again, she continued, giving him to time to refuse. She was a interesting girl, with lots of secrets herself, but her bad ones were hidden on an unknown island that no plane or boat could get to.
"Once I went to summer camp with my best friend for a month and we were sitting near the river, skipping stones before we went back to the cabins for bed. We saw this girl from Woodcreek, we didn't know her name, but I found out later when I came back from camp. CeCe Smith's boyfriend, Dan, was at the camp, too, but she wasn't. I think her grandma died so she couldn't go that summer. We saw Dan and that girl from Woodcreek kissing in the woods. I bet she wishes she never meant that stupid boy. CeCe doesn't know though and she won't until I need her to. So I am trusting you to keep my secret," she spat out in a whisper. "I mean, since we are friends we don't betray each other, right?"
That was the summer where she became the Secret Keeper. Summer camp allowed her to figure out a lot of things about Rilltown teenagers. They commonly played truth or dare around the fire, and Leslie always kept an eye on people.

Fin blinked rapidly at her teasing, completely bewildered. This girl was definitely not best friend material; Fin had figured out that much. However, she was quite interesting so Fin decided to stick around. "I've never really done much at your parties." Fin admitted with a awkward smile. So he could really have made a fool of himself as there was nothing to make a fool of.
When Leslie began to talk about secrets and then didn't give him a chance to say that he didn't really want to know the secret, Fin was quite taken aback. Was this the kind of thing that happened to cool people? Fin wasn't sure. Fin nodded as Leslie spoke, barely taken in any of her words. "I won't tell anyone..." Fin tailed off. He wouldn't betray someone's trust but he also had no idea what Leslie had said so he couldn't have told if he wanted to.
"Your so sweet! At least I can trust someone in this town. You'd be surprised, with my group of friends it is hard to be able to make eye contact with each other sometimes. Then you know that someone told my secrets," Leslie said, in a sweet voice. "You should come to all my parties this summer! I think my parents are going away for like three weeks, and a business trip, this year, so I guess everything will be a bit more fun around here. My parents know I do it, don't worry. But I say it is just a small get together and they don't mind. Anyway, Fin, what is your secret. Remember the deal, friends share secrets, even the worst ones."
Leslie was full of joy and she knew that she could make this boy give her something, for she could always do that.
"But, since we are just like soon to be best friends, you can tell me something a bit more, well, less deep about yourself," Leslie added.

When Leslie said he should come to all her parties that summer, Fin smiled slightly and nodded. "Sure, that would be great fun." Fin told her truthfully. He did think it would be fun but he was also a bit scared. He didn't do great in situations with loads of people. He got a bit awkward and weird. He was better just talking to them one on one. That way there was no peer pressure or anything to look really cool.
When Leslie asked what his secret was, Fin was a bit shocked and confused. To be honest, he didn't really have any secrets other than the fact that he was looking for a new best friend. He would just assess people according to what Sadie would do and that's how he chose his friends. But who would care about that? "I don't really have any secrets." Fin admitted truthfully. He didn't think he did. He hadn't done much embarrassing stuff in his eighteen years on Earth.
When she asked something less deep about him, Fin thought for a moment. "Well, I like all sports. Diving, running, everything like that," Fin offered with a smile. "But that's not a secret." Fin furrowed his brow.
"Fine, then I'll just ask you a few questions. Please don't run away when I ask though, okay?" Leslie began. "Have you ever had a girlfriend? Have you ever snuck out late from your house? Have you ever told a terrible lie, we all have? Oh, how could I forget? Have you ever gotten dumped or got an F on your report card?"
Leslie asked the questions kindly, as if the questions weren't important.
Her eyes shined in the sunlight as the afternoon flew by.

Fin blushed scarlet at all the personal questions that Leslie asked. He looked up at her, nervously biting his lip. He didn't really want to admit some of the answers to those questions. After all, he was eighteen and he'd never had a girlfriend. Well, he had Sadie but that was complicated. And some girl when he was about six but that was it. Fin was pretty sure they didn't count. "Wh- why would you want to know the answers to that? I-I'm not very interesting," Fin stuttered slightly with an adorably awkward grin. He licked his lips nervously as he awaited the girl's answer.
"Oh, I understand, Fin! Don't fret, you never had a girlfriend, never snuck out of the house, never told a terrible lie, or got dumped or got an F. You are the perfect kid, right? Thats not a bad thing, I wish I was perfect sometimes, too. But, anyway, I had a boyfriend, I have snuck out of the house late at night, I have told a terrible lie, and I have never gotten dumbed and I have never, ever, ever gotten an F. Okay, so I guess thats all you are going to tell me, unless you have something else. Thats how you make friends, Fin, you tell people things about yourself."
Leslie smirked and held the boys gaze.
"Secrets keep people close, but they also keep people away from you. The only thing that is tricky, is knowing who to tell, because deep down we all need to let someone know our secret. You can tell me. I've never told anyones before," Leslie ensured with a sweet little girl voice.

Fin gulped and chewed his lip nervously as Leslie guessed pretty much everything he was thinking. When she said he could tell her his secrets in a little girl's voice, Fin got slightly suspicious but allowed a kind smile to come onto his face. There was no point in upsetting Leslie by saying he didn't entirely trust her. "Okay, if I ever have any secrets I want to share then I'll come straight to you, Leslie," Fin promised, mentally crossing his fingers. If he crossed his fingers, it didn't count as a lie.
"Fin, it was wonderful to meet you, but I have to go home and do homework. If you'd like to study with me you can ride back with me," Leslie offered, pointing to her red jaguar that was parked just outside the window. "I have math and some reading to finish."
She stood up and pushed in her chair, holding the bag with the croissant in her left hand. When she turned around, her smile faded. The boy was afraid of something, and she would find it out, if it meant using her horrible ways.

The thought of going back with Leslie to do homework didn't appeal to Fin at all. He was scared she may start asking him questions again. This girl was definitely a bit crafty and she obviously didn't have Fin's best interests at heart. She just wanted information. Why, was the thing that baffled Fin. "Um... sorry, I can't," Fin replied with an apologetic smile. "I have to go to the park to go running for a bit. I'm keeping fit," Fin explained, glad he didn't have to lie. He was a terrible liar. He would have to go to the park now, just to make sure his lie wasn't a lie since he hadn't mentally crossed his fingers like he usually did. He got up and smiled again at Leslie. "Goodbye, Leslie. It was nice meeting you," Fin said goodbye quickly and left the coffee bar.
"Fin, you seem mad at me. Did I do something wrong? I asked too many questions. Well, I'll be leaving. Maybe I'll see you at school and certainly at all of my parties," Leslie said as she turned around.
She walked out of the coffee shop with a look of achievement on her face. It was always good to get to know someone, but that wasn't why she was interested in him. She felt as if she had seem him before, not just in the hallways. Through-out the day she thought about where she had seen that face before, and finally she got it.
