Courtney inhaled the sweet smell of buttercream frosting as she entered the bakery. Her mother, Cadence, had sent her to place an order for two dozen cupcakes. The treats were a tradition at her mother's frequent Sunday Teas. Her purple curls swayed against her back as she walked towards the glass display cases. No one was behind the counter, so she pressed the bell sitting next to the register.

The delicious smell of vanilla and freshly baked cupcakes filled the air with an unimaginable scent. The bells jingled, indicating that a new customer had come in to the bakery. That customer was a rich young man, seeking a wife, but at that moment, he was seeking a sugar cookie. Earlier that morning his sweet tooth had started yelling at him, so he decided to follow it's command. When he walked in he saw a few other people. Five people sat at a table, that was meant for roughly four customers, and two senior citizens were looking at a few treats that were inside the glass case. He noticed a girl with purple hair pressing the bell, which sent a ring through-out the bakery. Immediately, Noah knew what he would be getting. A dozen vanilla cupcakes, three sugar cookies, two lemon squares, and one mini chocolate cake. Somehow, Noah managed to stay fit. Without his daily visit to the gym every morning, he would have been very overweight.

No one was behind the counter, but soon he saw an employee come out of a small door. He recognized the lady behind the counter. Noah thought he had seen her walking her dogs in the park before, but he wasn't sure. With a shrug, he waited for the girl in front of him to make her order.

"Two dozen red velvet cupcakes, also could this embelm be made out of fondant and placed in the frosting?" Courtney handed the woman behind the counter a picture of her mother's new logo. Cadence was opening up an online clothing store, and was planning to announce it at her Tea tomorrow. The woman nodded and gave Courtney a total. "Oh, actually I'd like to add one more thing," She pointed towards the display case. "One eclair." The employee added the pastry to her total and Courtney placed thirty dollars on the counter. "Here you are." The woman said as she gave Courtney her treat and her receipt. With a smile Courtney turned around and saw that a small line had formed. She immediately felt nervous and walked towards a tiny pink table near a window.

Ignoring her surroundings, she bit into the eclair and let the flavors dance across her tongue. The taste of the sweet was the most exciting thing Courtney had experienced all day. Her father was at the office, Clark was out swimming and hanging out with his Woodcreek pals, and her mother had been ordering around their household employees and stressing the importance of her upcoming tea. In the midst of it all she found herself running errands for her mother, and trying not to complain. She wanted nothing more than to fly back to L.A. and sing her heart out in the recording studio, yet she was at home in Rilltown stuffing her face with a really, really good eclair.

Noah noticed the girl with the purple hair had stepped out of line with an eclair. The lady behind the counter began to ask what he wanted to order, and he slowly told her, pointing to the items he wanted. After she packaged everything in a cute pink box, the lady handed it to him, with his receipt on the top, taped to the box.

"Thank you," he said before trailing to the left and to a small table.

He noticed that a few more people had entered, but wondered why he hadn't heard a jingle. He sat down at a small two person booth that was tucked away in a side room, where people could eat their treats. He sat at a table near the window and opened the small pink box. He planned on eating a bit of a sugar cookie, then packing up his things and leaving. Noah had to finish unpacking his suitcase, for he had just arrived back to his mansion a few nights ago and he hadn't found the time to neatly take his belongings out of his black carry-on.

After finishing her pastry Courtney looked around the now crowded bakery. She spotted a man with a box full of treats in a booth near her table. She pulled out her phone and saw that it was just passed five. With nothing else to do, she decided to pick up her purse and go talk to him. Any specific reason? Not necessarily. He was cute, but obviously a lot older than she was. She just wanted to make light conversation. She stood, pushed in the pink chair, tugged on her long grey maxi skirt, and threw her purse over her shoulder. She walked over to the booth and waited for the man to notice her presence.

After a few seconds, Noah noticed that the same girl that had stood in front of her while he was waiting for his treats was now standing near his table. He decided he'd be welcoming and invite the girl to sit with him. He wasn't interested in her, but thought she could keep him company.

"Hello, miss. Would you like to sit down?" Noah asked in his normal British accent.

Even though she was certainly not the one, he though he could make a friend. Noah didn't know many people in Rilltown, accept his annoying neighbors, a popular girl and her brother, and the more he knew the better. Well, he did know the substitute pre-school teacher. He had accidentally bumped into her on the street, and she had dropped a bunch of papers, so Noah was a gentlemen and picked them up for her. Besides that, he didn't have any friends. He had no people that he could call up to have dinner, no one to go see.

Not shocked by the man's thick British accent, seemingly fitting for him, Courtney smiled and sat down. She had no idea where this was going but it was more exciting then going home to her mother's party planning chaos. She pushed a fallen purple curl behind her ear and placed her purse on the seat. "I know you're probably extremely confused about why I came over here, and to be honest I don't have a good answer." She flashed her pearly white teeth and continued.
"I'm Courtney by the way, Courtney Anderson." She held out her hand, her nails freshly manicured, painted a pale pink, and long. She thought he might recognize her last name, as her family controlled all of the electrical power in the city of Rilltown, but could honestly care less if it didn't ring a bell to the man.

Noah shook the girls hands, noticing her probably very expensive manicure. They were a pale pink, the shade of one of the guest bedrooms in his mansion. His phone went off but he let it ring out and began a conversation. Noah wondered if it was his father. He remember his father saying that he would be calling him shortly to make plans to come visit him. They were the only people that would want to stay for a weekend. Not in-laws, or grandchildren. Not his friends, or his siblings. No one but his parents.

He wasn't sure if he should bring up the weather or ask her questions. Although Noah truthfully knew that this would probably be the last time he ever saw this girl, he didn't want her to say anything bad about him to anyone.

"Nice to meet you, Miss Courtney. Are you perhaps related to the founder of Anderson Electric? I remember hearing that they were a local family from my electrician." Noah said as he put down his sugar cookie.

Courtney noticed the constant ringing of the man's phone. She knew that he was just trying to be a gentleman by ignoring the call, but she wasn't the type of person to mind things like that. The ringing stopped and she nodded, "My great grandfather founded the company." She placed her hands in her lap, feeling a bit awkward just watching the man eat. Maybe randomly walking over here wasn't such a good idea after all. He clearly wasn't interested in befriending a teenager. Still wanting the conversation to last for unknown reasons, Courtney continued. "I haven't really seen you around before, Mr...." She said waiting for him to state his name.

"Mr. Knight, but you can call me Noah. I am rather new to Rilltown, actually. I work from home now, so I don't leave to comfort of my home often," Noah said as he put down his cookie. "I'm guessing you are a student at the private school nearby.

He tried to smile, but he felt like that would be odd. His phone rang again and it was very hard for him to ignore it that time. When he thought the girl wasn't looking, he took his iPhone 6 out of his pocket and slowly texted his father.

I'll call you in a bit. I'm working.

Although he wasn't actually working, he knew that if he said that he was talking to a girl in a coffee shop that his father would just keep calling. By then an e-mail from his mother came into his inbox. It was probably asking dates and times about visiting.

"Sorry, Miss Courtney. My father was calling and he is slightly demanding," he said, in an apologetic tone.

"Oh, go ahead and talk to your dad." Courtney started to gather her things as he took the call. She slid out of the booth and looked around the bakery. She felt awkward just standing there but didn't necessary know how to end the conversation. She decided to invite him to her mother's tea, maybe then they could finish whatever this weird small talk thing was. Courtney pulled out a pen and took a napkin from the table. She wrote down her address and a short note. The message read:

It was nice meeting you Noah. My mother is hosting a tea at our house on Sunday at four o'clock. Stop by if you feel like meeting some of Rilltown's finest.

- Courtney J. Anderson <3

Courtney doodled a heart next to her signature. It wasn't an expression of her feelings for Noah, but something she always did after signing her name. It was the future superstar in her. In a few years she'd hopefully be signing her name on copies of her platinum selling album for fans at some meet and greet in California. But until then, she was standing in a bakery signing a note on napkin for a man she barely knew, in Rilltown. She smiled, pushed the napkin in front of Noah and headed towards the bakery door.
