Jane (PS) | 25194 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a 'nice to know' when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Deep Sleeper - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme, come up with a fun name. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 29 March

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2. (It will also help with one of the categories in this round!)

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation, etc.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Announcement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

Jane (PS) | 25194 comments Key selection and completion post information. You must have ALL elements in your book posts.

For selection post Option 1 you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please note which qualifying bookshelf/list you are using or the tags that justifies that it works.
If the theme is based off the bookcover, post the cover. If there is a letter count in the title, publication date etc, please note these details.

For selection post Option 2 you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

For selection post Option 3 you must have:
Week #
PASS

For the completion post you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

IF YOU NEED TO CORRECT A POST FOR MISSING INFORMATION or because the didn't qualify etc, please REPOST this information in a NEW post. I don't want to have to keep going backwards in the thread.

Kira (kirac) | 547 comments I'm Kira. I'm in Alberta Canada. I will read anything once. I love love, so if it's romance, I'm happy.

This round's prompts look quite fun! I do love sleep.
And I'm looking forward to creeping all of your shelves for option 2.

I've sent you all friend requests (except those I've been on teams with before: Hi R~wka & Jill!)
We have 5 days to pick a name related to this rounds theme of SLEEP. Any Ideas?

message 12: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2904 comments Hi everyone, I’m Vi. I live in Netherlands.

I love reading, Romance and Fantasy are my favourite sub genres with a very rare foray out into the other genres. I think this is my first or second time with this game and I’m really looking forward to playing with you all.

I’m not very creative so I’ll wait for your suggestions for the team names.

message 13: by Kat (new)

Kat (bookworm2017) | 1154 comments Hi everyone. I’m Kat from Glasgow in Scotland. I love reading especially thrillers. I’m in this group to help get my romance tbr down. This is my second time playing this game. Wish we knew the prompts ahead as I like to plan.

I’m in a few challenges so I’m trying to make most of them join together

Mark billigaham has a book called sleepyhead - what about that?

message 14: by Jill (new)

Jill (jilljorox) | 2046 comments Captain Kira at the helm again, lol. Hi all I'm Jill from NYC. I read all things romance, I do have a partiality to secret babies/pregnancies, but most tropes are fine except hardcore MC books. I like my loving with as little violence as possible.
Possible team names, I won't be offended if none are liked 😊
•Reading in Slumberland
•To Read perchance to Dream
•Sleepwalking Readers
•The Sleepyheads
•The Dreamers
•Snoozers-R-Us
•The Night Owls
•The Restless Readers
•The Insomniacs

message 15: by R~wka (new)

R~wka (r-wka) | 938 comments Hi, I'm Raluca. I'm from Romania (Europe). I did played this game before And I love it. I love Romance books with happy end. I tend to skip love triangle, rectangle or other geometric shape.

Regarding the name of the team I like:
The Night Owls and Sleepwalking Readers

Because I am a sleepy person (but I can lost a night because of a book)

And as a last mention, is possible that I make some grammar errors in my reviews, because English is a second language 😅

Sleepwalking Readers
Reading in Slumberland

message 17: by Shandrea (new)

Shandrea Freeman | 972 comments Hello everyone!

My name is Shandrea, I am from Idaho (USA). I am so excited to be in a group with such diversity!

I read all types of romance. Not very much historical romance or paranormal. I don't read very much MM romance either - but am not impartial to it. :)

I am a very busy mom of 4 and my husband is deployed. I do my best to read more than one book a week but usually I only get one book done.

Team names - I like The Night Owls

Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake
Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review: This book is full of messy feelings. I might have found it a little convoluted and overwritten if I wasn't in the mood. But I was. Aldo and Regan were captivating, though the conflict made them less likeable and the resolution wasn't enough to entirely repair my opinion of them. Either way, pieces of this will probably occupy space in my thoughts for some time to come. There were some very pretty and thoughtful bits of prose."Everything would be as it was, only very slightly different."

Review - I went into this book blind and was surprised to find out it was the first MMF/bi book that I've ever read. I gave it 5 stars because the writing was good and I liked the first two books in the series. But the book; overall, was not mind blowing.. but still enjoyable. On to the 4th book :)

R~wka (r-wka) | 938 comments Completion Post: Week #1
On the Way to the Wedding (Bridgertons, #8) by Julia Quinn
On the Way to the Wedding
Rating: 5*
Review:
The last book in Bridgertons series. The author made me love this series and I'm sad because it's end... Gregory is the last in his family of 8 siblings to find his true love, and he is sure that his true love is Hermione Watson. Lucinda (Lucy) Abernathy, Hermione friend fall in love with Gregory, but she is already engaged to someone else. Is like a love triangle, especially because the book start with Gregory bursts into the middle of the wedding and confesses his love to the bride (the bride didn't have a name so you may think something different). Loved the ending. I'm sure I'll reread this series :)

Lady Violet Finds a Bridegroom (The Lady Violet Mysteries, #3) by Grace Burrowes

Week #: 1
Book: Lady Violet Finds a Bridegroom by Grace Burrowes
Number of Pages: 264
Date Read: 6 April
How it Qualifies: MPG Historical and Author last name starts with B
Rating: 3 stars
Review: 3rd book in the series and we can see slowly the growth of Lady Violet. The mystery was weak but characterisations shine. One thing I liked about this is the effects of early, unhappy marriage in those times on Lady Violet. Of course, she still has the privilege of wealth and aristocracy. The love triangle is still there and progressing. I'm not a fan of it as I already peeked to the last book to see how it ends. I'm hoping there is a build it so justify the triangle. I'll mostly be continuing the series.
