I love a book that creates a whole world to dive into and figure out how their society works. I also love future, space and magic as book themes so yes I looooooved this book. Fin did not exactly recommend the sequels but I'm going to struggle not to try the next chapter.

Jem | 8 comments Loved this, it rekindled my reading enjoyment, I was making time to read for the first time in years! My new kindle might also have helped. had zero idea of what was going on for the first 70% but it was a great necromancer mystery tour. And I'm more than a little enamoured with Gideon.

Oh man, I feel a bit broken.

I love Gideon, I wanted nothing but the best for her. I was even coming around to Harrow!

Excellent book, really enjoyed it, although it appears to have slowed me down on my reading, not sure if that was just because I was processing the world I found myself in.

I did get a bit lost with who was which house and barely held the names in my mind, especially as everyone had multiple names, but it didn't make it hard to follow & I could have paused to use the glossary to check, but it wasn't strictly necessary for enjoying the book.

I guessed what the end game for how to become a Lyctor was, but the plot had me guessing right until the very end as to if/what/how/when. Especially knowing the name of the sequel, had me guessing how exactly it would pan out.

Loved the darkness of the world and the fact the author didn't shy away from making it that dark. I shall definitely be reading the next book!

You can see why I had to reread the first book after the next two!
