Kelly | 199 comments I am opting out this month. I loathe westerns. so good luck on it everyone, I think I'll catch up with a lot of other stuff I need to read instead. :)

Sarah (sarahmott) | 467 comments There are A LOT of study guides for this. It makes me think I’m getting into something serious. Kelly, I’m not normally a Western fan either, but I’ve made it a point to get more into them through this group. There’s a lot in this genre you won’t find anywhere else. 😁

Cheryl | 1171 comments I started this book today. For the first two or three chapters, the writing style and narration seemed a bit muddled and confusing to me. However, after the two main characters leave the town, the writing improves alot.

This book seems a bit more stiff and formal than other Westerns I've read, but I guess that's because it's one of the first of this genre and the author is probably finding his way around this type of story. It'll be interesting to see how the story progresses.

Sarah (sarahmott) | 467 comments It says on Wikipedia that this is the starter book for pretty much all Westerns which explains a lot. Is it weird that I like the hen story the most so far?

Sarah,

The hen story was cute. I’m at the part where the new school teacher arrives. It looks like the story will be turning into a romance, at least for awhile. The book seems more like a series of connected stories than a single plot. I guess its point is to show what The West was like, more than anything. I am still reading it.

I still have vertigo, but hoping to get to this soon! Also, I am not getting notifications for this group even though I have turned them on. Uncool.

Adelaide,

Notifications for groups can sometimes do that for me, too. What can sometimes reset it to work: look above and to the right of the Comment box, where it says”You are following all discussions for this group.” Tap on Edit to the right of that sentence. Then tap notifications to None, and then tap to Notification Only. That has fixed it for me in the past.

I hope your vertigo clears up soon. Could it possibly be allergy related? My husband had a problem like that in the past, and allergy pills helped. I hope it resolves itself soon for you!

I have BPPV. The crystals in my ears got moved around, and my brain REALLY does not like it. Trying to get someone to move them back via physical therapy has been harder to do than I thought thought it would.

Thanks for the notification help! I'll see if it works.

My vestibular system is still messed up, but I have liked the little I've been able to read so far!
