Reading through the bible

I enjoy these historical books of the Bible too. Although I’m always saddened when I read about kings and other people who turn from following God.
Yes, it is sad, and we have to remember that WE, too, will suffer punishment if we turn away from following God, and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, the Saviour.
God's Word is just so amazing... History, brings our salvation, helps us ~ brings Life to our Souls; Develops our understanding of God etc, etc
Yes, the Holy Bible is holy, it is God's instruction book for us, because He loves us and wants us to be with him in heaven after we die. Few Christians like the rules, and fewer still will choose to stay on the strait and narrow.
Still reading through the bible in a year. I've begun 1st Chronicles:1 and 2 Chronicles
The books of Chronicles were originally one book in the Hebrew text. They trace the history of Israel from the beginning of the human race until the fall of Jerusalem and the return of the Jews during the reign of the Persian king, Cyrus the Great.
Jewish tradition assigns the authorship of the 2 books of Chronicles to Ezra.
Outline of First Chronicles: 1. Geneologies from Adam to David
2. History of King David
The genealogical lists begin by demonstrating the place of the line of David, from whom the Messiah would come, among the families of mankind.

DAVID wrote: "Wonderful to see how it all fits into our beliefs in God ...."Well, our beliefs should line up precisely with what the word of God says, not what our fickle and unreliable feelings of the moment about the bible are. Don't you agree, that people avoid the "scary", difficult verses in the bible, so they can keep on in their sins?
I'm in 2 Chronicles now, and I would like to share what God said:[6] But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might inquire of him?
[7] And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
People never like to be told they're in sin, not nowadays. It is RARE to find any person, man or woman, who will admit they're wrong. These verses in Luke are telling us how the end time will be, how false Christians will abound: [7] And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
[8] I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
Shall Jesus find faith on the earth, when He comes back to earth? He is coming back, too. You will face Him, either as judge or Saviour.

OBSERVATIONS ABOUT 1 KINGS:
1 Kings covers the 120 year period from the beginning of
Solomon’s reign in 971 B.C. through Ahaziah’s reign
ending in 851 B.C.
The key date is 931 B.C., the year the united Kingdom
was divided to become the Divided Kingdom.
• Northern Kingdom of Israel - 10 tribes.
• Southern Kingdom of Judah - 2 tribes.
In the original Hebrew Bible, the books of 1 & 2 Kings
were originally one book.
Four major events in 1 Kings:
• David’s death
• Solomon’s reign
• The division of the Kingdom
• Elijah’s ministry.
1 Kings is a record of disobedience, idolatry, and ungodliness
which serve as an explanation for the Assyrian
Captivity of Israel in 721 B.C. and the Babylonian
Captivity of Judah some 135 years later in 586 B.C.
Other events in 1st Kings: Adonijah makes himself king, and then Nathan the prophet spoke to Bathsheba, the mother of Solomon, and told her to tell old King David about Adonijah reigning, and King David didn't know about it. So, David orders Solomon his son, to be anointed and made king. Solomon was the king who obtained amazing wisdom from God. He wrote Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs.
