I will vote for In a Glass Darkly as I love the name no idea what the book is about and I have read almost all the others

Amanda Dawn | 1683 comments Cool! going for melmoth the wanderer since it is the only one I haven't read (other than house of leaves which i have from the library right now)

Pip | 1822 comments As celebrating Halloween is a bit of a mystery to me and not enjoying horror anyway, I am just going to read my TBR this month - The Fall of the House of Usher

Rosemary | 730 comments There are three I haven't read, and two of them have already been nominated, so I will wait for the voting!

message 6: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2196 comments I have not read: The Wasp Factory, Interview with a Vampire and Melmouth the Wanderer, although Melmouth is quite long for an additional read. I would also be happy to reread some of the classics of the genre.

Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) | 555 comments I came across a nice copy of The Mysteries of Adolpho
on a free shelf last week, so I'd nominate The Mysteries of Adolpho
for our Halloween read. Gloomy castle setting and one of the possible influences of Poe... sounds like a good Halloween book. :)

I’ve read all of these except
House of Leaves and The Wasp Factory. I have both of those but never seem to get them read. House of Leaves was a Q read but I didn’t finish it.

Two books from the horror category that could be added are Interivew with the Vampire and The Bloody Chamber.

I would not mind a reread of Frankenstein.

Where is the voting happening?

message 16: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2196 comments Yes, sorry. I was thinking there was going to be a poll but there isn't one. Are we just voting here on this string or should I send a message to you Diane?

I looked but did not see poll #11 so thanks for making it easier to find.

message 22: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 730 comments Thanks for extending! I had confused it with the Oct BotM poll until now.

Our winner is The Island of Doctor Moreau. I will post a new thread on October 1st. I was amazed at how many of you wanted to read Melmoth the Wanderer at 659 pages!

If you have already read The Island of Doctor Moreau there is still the banned book challenge in October.
