Nominations 2024 Reading Challenges

This is a possible list of some new challenges I am thinking of for 2024. We will vote at some point on which ones you would like to do next year. I need to speak with administrators regarding points etc.

Book to Screen Reading Challenge - basically read a book that also has a corresponding movie or TV series.

Classics Reading Challenge - The idea is to explore the classics by reading one classic book each month chosen for the challenge prompt. There will be a prompt for each of the twelve months.

Decades Reading Challenge - Challenge yourself to reading books set in a different decade for each month. We can decide as a group which decade we start with or let each participant pick a decade.

Read a book set in each of the 50 states

Monthly Key Word Reading Challenge - our task is to read at least one book each month whose title includes one or more of the keywords for that month.

Please give us your thoughts on these and any other of our challenges. What would you like to see continue next year?

Like all the ideas my favourite is probably the Key Word challenge

Amanda Dawn | 1683 comments These are fun: I'm doing the states one myself independently though, and there isn't a list book for each state (as far as I was able to discern) and may be a little US-centric for an international group. Really love the other ones though!

Gail (gailifer) | 2195 comments Yes, I like all of these but prefer the Key Word or the Classics reading.

I like all of these but would get rid of the state challenge. With all the special events I am wondering if we should cut back on botm? What are your thoughts? And as a admin, Diane, feel free to decide points however you want.

We are going to vote on which one of these the group wants.

Jane | 384 comments Book to Screen! I do this anyway -- if there's any kind of adaptation, I watch it immediately after finishing the book, or sometimes following along.

message 11: by Nike (new)

Nike | 98 comments I'd like the key word challenge and would like to propose to read books from 50 different countries instead of 50 US states.

I have put up a poll for voting, I think I got it right this time:) The poll will be available for the entire month of September. It is featured poll #1 this time.

Can we vote for more than one?

No let us keep it at one vote per person. We can decide if we want to do more than more based on results. Sound good?

Results of the poll are in and the monthly key word challenge was the winner.
