Marc (monkeelino) | 510 comments Just happened upon this press because they have a new chapbook collection of Lithuanian literature in translation (my wife’s father fled Lithuania as a child during WWII when the Russians invaded).
https://www.strangers.press/kūnai

From their site:
“ STRANGERS PRESS is focused on publishing literary translations and international writing in innovative or creative ways. We’re particularly interested in the idea of translation as a form of cultural exchange… “

I didn’t see a thread for this press yet but if I overlooked an existing one, please feel free to delete this post.

Another Norfolk based publisher out of the UEA.

I read their Korean chapbook collection and thought it was wonderful - there was talk of another series of that coming.

I was wondering if their Korean series had made its way to you, Paul! Glad to hear it was so good. Hope to order at least one of their collections soon, but need to get through some of what I've already piled up this year.

Stacia | 103 comments Wow, these are very visually appealing (not to mention that they are translated & in sets/themed from various countries).

My reading has been so fragmented of late & I haven't been able to fully concentrate on reading. I just treated myself to ordering some of these in the hope that chapbooks can help me get back into my reading groove.

Thanks for posting!

WndyJW I hate when that happens, Stacia. I have 2 good novels on the go now, Cassandra at the Wedding and Cuddy, and Jason and the Argonauts,) but I don’t seem to have a block of time to make headway in any one of them.

Good luck with the chapbooks!

Stacia | 103 comments Thanks, Wendy! And I hope you find some more reading time for yourself.

Marc (monkeelino) | 510 comments I was also quite drawn to the covers and decided to just pre-order the whole set, Stacia. I hate when reading feels fragmented. Mine has felt that way recently, but I think the new McCarthy has me excited and back in the flow. Hope the chapbooks do the same for you!

Wishing you more reading time, Wendy!

WndyJW Thank you! My son’s baby is due in less than 8 weeks so lots of getting ready for baby stuff, all good, but I always hope for a quiet evening with a book.

These are beautiful books. Hard to resist a set of attractive books!

Stacia | 103 comments Wanted to thank Marc for posting about this press/these chapbook sets. I'm currently working my way through the Yeoyu (Korean) set.

I'm not always the biggest fan of short stories but these are so visually appealing & feel less like a short story collection since they are printed as separate (chap)books. I love that they are culturally/thematically linked (by country/new generation of writers). Very much enjoying them. Thanks for mentioning these!

Paul Fulcher (fulcherkim) | 13588 comments The Yeoyu series is very good. There were some suggestions of another series of Korean stories in the works.
