So, the main reason I actually started this group was to share poetry. Don't feel nervous, because there is no hate or discrimination here. And, you can ask for constructive criticism. Also, you can always Private message me wth a poem if you're more comfortable doing that <3
I'll go first :)

Side by side, we plunge
Into the depths of dusk
Falling together

Ivy ♡ | 7 comments Maybe I'm paying for my sins,
Maybe that's why it's this way,
They tell me "be greatful for what you have",
I am greatful for what I earned
But I can't help feeling this way...
Maybe it's my fault,
Maybe it's their fault,
Or maybe it's no one's fault...
Maybe that's how things are supposed to be..
They say "when you lose something, you'll earn something better"
Then why do I keep losing things and earning none..
Why? it's not a question for you
It's a question I ask from myself..
But there's still hope,
A thing that keeps me going
A reason why I keep fighting against the chaos
A reason why I haven't let myself drown....yet...

That was very well written Ivy. I believe that is what most of us use poetry for, expression. It can be a very helpful outlet for our emotions and thoughts.

A.J. Kaynatma (ajkaynatma) | 19 comments Have plenty of bucks.
Thought ladies'd be at influx.
Loneliness quite SUCKS!

Have ginormous ... brain.
No one thinks along same plane.
On my heart is strain.

Am in quite the plight.
No one to talk to? ... I write.
This does not feel right.

A.J. Kaynatma (ajkaynatma) | 19 comments A Shakespearean sonnet has 14 lines divided into 4 subgroups: 3 quatrains and a couplet. Each line is typically--but certainly NOT always--ten syllables, phrased in iambic pentameter. A Shakespearean sonnet employs the rhyme scheme ABAB CDCD EFEF GG.

NON-Intellectual Goal
Ever since I broke my mind, I've kept my nose to the grind.
I sought to prove my brain wasn't totally wrecked.
If you observe me awhile, you'll note I'm one of a kind.
All I want now are romantic love, symphonic laughter & mutual respect.

Of course, I cannot forget her kissable face.
That is accompanied by her very wide, toothy smile.
In the end, she'll be well-worth my torrid chase.
I have not touched a dame's lips in an awfully long while.

Of course, I'm a man who desires that hourglass frame,
Complete with a big, soft, grab-worthy ass.
I just yearn to, hopefully one day, make her my dame.
One of her best traits of all is she'll giggle at my being crass.

So, I need a woman of sound mind, great body & strong heart.
Hey, given my bumpy background, wouldn't that be a helluva RE-start?!

there is no PHYSICAL pain.
However, the PSYCHOLOGICAL
pain & the frustration of my
nerves NOT connecting is...
Indescribable!

...Nevertheless, I determinedly

Nicholas Cooke (njcooke) | 1 comments STONES AND HEMLOCK

If I could relive my life, only
one more time, I would spend
less years hedging my edges or
hiding my vines. I’d find my way
to harvest, inviting this poison
and crimson wine.

Hemlock for dinner, every plate
will be cleaned. Stones, found
surrounding the grave, of all
they wished I would be.

If you enjoy this, any support would be greatly appreciated!

message 22: by Abel (new)

Abel B. (abelbpoetry) | 1 comments Hiya, I'm Abel, a 22 y/o poet and I recently just released my debut book Get Out of My Mirror! which revolves around topics like depression, heartbreaks, and self-perception. I would appreciate any feedback and reviews.

Excerpt from my book:
Today I opened my notes and I pondered
What concoction of words will ever justify my actions
Another faultless heart that I squandered
On the path of adding up my fractions

In my head it was but an attempt to pick my sutures
In time, space, and affection I was engrossed
Only realized what I’ve done in the future
Stole them from the open palms that needed them most

The palms that were ready to go to war for my sake
I treated like nothing but a stepping stone
Yet when the earth quakes and the ground breaks
I won’t be the one who made it home

Those delicate palms that I burdened with the weight of Jupiter
Survived by letting go at just the right time
While I still had my clutches on the blades of Lucifer
The life I was about to pursue was anything but sublime

The weight of Jupiter did not go to waste
Missed the clear label of ‘’return to sender’’
Every day that passes I experience tenfold the taste
When all I could think about is “what can I ever send her?”

Arden Lee | 9 comments Today I posted a poem that actually began with having no inspiration, so I used a random word generator. It gave me the word 'linen', which sparked a memory of a scene I'd written in one of my books. Considering that I nearly wasn't able to write a poem today, I'm quite pleased with the result!

Laura | 2 comments In keeping with the season, my 'Thanksgiving Poems & Prose Pieces' is on special offer at only 99c for a limited period - or it can be read on Kindle Unlimited.

There's a poem every day for the month of November, some lighthearted, some more serious, but all concerned with the celebration of Thanksgiving. Here's a sample, and the links:

Thanksgiving Poems & Prose Pieces by Laura Lyndhurst
Thanksgiving Poems & Prose Pieces

Laura Lyndhurst

Write an acrostic poem for one of these words:
TURKEY, AUTUMN, FAMILY.

Thanksgiving is
Usually the time to
Roast and eat this tasty bird because we
Know that it goes so well with
Every kind of vegetable, even
Yams, also known as Sweet Potatoes.

A time of the year when the leaves which are
Usually on the
Trees are now,
Unusually, underneath them,
Making a carpet on the ground which is
Never any other colour than red and gold.

Fathers, brothers, uncles, sons and
Aunts, sisters, daughters, nieces and
Mothers, babies, older children, have no
Issues with
Loving each other all
Year around.

Thanks for reading.

Steven Coffin | 2 comments Today I would love to share a poem from my poetry book Pallbearer Dreaming

Pallbearer Dreaming

"Shoeless Angel"

I hope the clouds
Are soft on your soles
Your healthy heels
Hopping through heavenly hills

May your toes grip the grass
Feet make the flowers flourish
With the same great grace
They had on the classroom floors

As I walk the trail to your grave
I hope my feet follow
Your phantom footprints
As we walk together in harmony

Thank you for reading, I hope all of you are having a wonderful day!
