what are some of your habits while you write? i like listening to music, sometimes with lyrics but usually instrumental.

Reagan | 34 comments I like to listen to music, be on my bed (if I had a desk I would probably prefer that, but I don't), have a fan on me, have my hair up, have a blanket on me, be in shorts and a t-shirt, and have a drink (preferably tea or dr pepper).

Annie | 6 comments Sometimes I listen to music, other times I’m just trying to stay focused on my novel. Other times I’ll have to look back in the doc for something I forgot or didn’t write down, and I also tend to have a lot of tabs open related to things I’m writing about

Ellie Kremer (levisquad888) | 18 comments While writing, depending on what WIP I’m working on, I listen to music pertaining to the situation or world I’m building. For ex. While writing a scene about a character’s death or down fall, I listen to very symphonic music. Songs that sound like they be in a movie sound track. My favorite one currently is “Lust of Power,” by Gabriel Saban.

paulina ᥫ᭡ (paaureadss) | 8 comments this might be weird, but i like to stand up from where i’m writing and walk around my house imagining the progress of my stories and then i always think of something new so i go back to write that

message 7: by Paige ♡ (new)

Paige ♡ I create Pinterest boards associated with key themes and the aesthetic of my book, as well as Spotify playlists! And I also like to write my first/base draft like a movie script, idk why but it helps me a lot with imagining the scene I’m writing, kind of like seeing it as a movie!

jaii ♡ (selwyn's version ♡ ) | 6 comments Very unrelated, but you guys are my people. The most realistic writers I've ever heard of.

message 9: by amy ♡ (new)

amy ♡ | 2 comments Normally I listen to instrumentals, drink copious amounts of coffee and review my character profile sheets or Pinterest boards.

message 11: by Sophia (new)

Sophia i’m usually drinking an iced coffee while i write, and whenever i have to stop and think about something i take a sip! for me it’s just about romanticizing my writing process so i don’t lose the love for it :)

mak ⊹₊⋆ (maklacedwithlove) | 17 comments UNRELATED BUT you guys should make a general channel and a nonfiction essay channel (to get feedback on ur informational essays for school and such)

message 13: by Luca (new)

Luca (alex_613) | 17 comments so i have a question. when you guys are writing, and your character thinks of something, how do you write that down?

Storm The Tiny Hooman ~hiatus~ (asherbookreviews) | 27 comments I normally do cursive if I am being 100% honest then at the end of the thought I put he/she/they thought

message 15: by Luca (new)

Luca (alex_613) | 17 comments I don't really like putting that behind what they think because i write down what they think a lot. So, should i then just switch the letter type and make it clear that then they're thinking that. Or is that not obvious enough if i eventually stop saying that they're thinking it when the letter type changes?

Ya I would recommend just doing cursive then or typing it if your online in a different font

message 17: by Tessa (new)

Tessa Rudolph | 14 comments My favorite thing to listen to while writing is usually nature sounds like rain or a stream. It makes me really relaxed and gives me something to listen to that doesn’t distract me! I also have a million different tabs open with my Pinterest boards, dictionary and thesaurus (bc they come in handy a lot), and other weird google search tabs that would probably be suspicious to anyone else… umm yeah that’s what happens while I’m writing!!

message 18: by toni✰ (new)

toni✰ | 1 comments i HAVE to have background noise so i usually put on a movie or youtube, don’t ask me why it helps me focus more than sitting in silence

an ungraceful swan I listen to classical music or sea shanties most of the time

Henna_UwU | 21 comments I listen to instrumental music, usually. And I try to keep my desk free of distractions so I can focus all my energy into writing.

message 24: by Emma (new)

Emma | 17 comments Instrumental music, but it has to fit the mood of what I'm writing, so... usually depressing music ;-;.

viqwxcs. ☆ (FREE PALESTINE) I usually just listen to music or watch something while writing.

Pierce Samuel ✞︎ (My Girlfriend's Ver.) (piercavelli) I like to draw out my scenes !! The library I go to has this whiteboard table that I draw out my scenes on while I write !!

message 27: by Hadley (new)

Hadley | 19 comments I either sit in bed and watch a show while I do it or I set up a desk for my laptop on my tredmil and walk REALLY slowly and type. I also tend to pause randomly and get out my noteboook that has all of the story concepts and jot stuff down for an hour.
