Shaye was taken aback at first, then realized what he must’ve been thinking. She smiled and followed, staying silent as he spoke with the chef.
"I do, actually!" The chef, Francis told Eli. "Whose your friend?" Francis asked, and Eli turned to Shaye, his face red from embarrassment. "Sorry, my bad. Queen Shaye, this is the head chef—the best ever if you asked me—Francis, Chef Francis this is Queen Shaye." He introduced, his boyish/childish traits and features sticking like a sore thumb.
Shaye smiled a little more and stuck out a hand to shake. “Nice to meet you Francis.” She said, her ears peeking up slightly. “I’m Shaye, the Elf Queen.”
Francis let out a deep chuckle. "I can tell, Your Highness," he said kindly. My daughter has an elf friend as well." He said with a nod. "But you two aren't here to hear my life story," he said, though Eli has heard his life story more times then he could count. "You two ready to try some scones?"
Shaye nodded eagerly. “Absolutely! I’d love to!” She said, bouncing on her heals like a little girl. She had somewhat of s sweet tooth and could resist baked goods.
Eli laughed kindly. "Glad to know that someone else has an eager sweet tooth like me." He said, beaming at Shaye.
She laughed a little, looking at Eli. She had to look up slightly because he was a few inches taller than her. “How could I not? Food like this is wonderful.” She said as Francis came back with a pan of scones.
"Finally someone gets it." He said, smiling as he took a scone off the pan and took a bite, his eyes lighting up. "I think these are your best yet, Francis." He said.
She took one too, taking a bite. Shaye let out a small sigh and closed her eyes. “That is.. the greatest scone I have ever tasted.” She said. Shaye would never had acted like this in front of courts or other nobles. She felt comfortable with Eli though and thought she could drop the formalities.
"Thank you, Prince Eli. Thank you, Queen Shaye." Francis said, bowing.
Shaye gave a little curtsy back. “Well, I guess we should get going then?” She asked Eli. “I’m sure we have lots of stuff to do.”
"Oh right. The meeting." He said dryly. "Of course, yes." He said, but grabbed another one, taking a few bites. "Thanks again, Francis!" He called out as the two left the kitchen.
Shaye walked with him down the corridors, lit by the early morning light. “I’m glad I’m finally getting some more time with you Eli.” She said. “With everything that’s happening lately I haven’t really been able to help with anything or really get to talk to you.”
He nodded. "Same here, Queen Shayne. I must admit though, you're a lot different than I remember." He said kindly. "I mean I'm pretty much the same as I was years ago." He said, a bit disappointed in himself. Since his father and mother died, he'd been hoping to mature a little more. If anything, he became more kid-like. He hated it. Who is going to take me seriously? he wondered gloomily as he ate the rest of his scone. ((SO I HAVE THIS CREEPY CHRISTMAS TEDDY BEAR THATS LIKE 4 FT TALL FROM WHEN I WAS A BABY AND IT HAS A MUSIC BOX THAT GOES OFF EVERY NOW AND THEN AND THERES NOT OFF BUTTON ON IT AND ITS IN MY CLOSET AND IT JUST WENT OFF- I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS RN LKJDFLKSJDFL LIKE IT HASN'T GONE OFF SINCE I DID A DEEP CLEAN IN MY CLOSET BACK IN FALL!))

Shaye shrugged. “Well, we all have different opportunities to change and grow.” She said. “At least that’s what my father said.” She looked at him. “Look, I know you just be totally stressed, but you don’t need to worry. It’s gonna be hard at first but you’ll adapt, you’ll learn things, and you have me and your advisor to help you. So, once we get passed the coronation, it’ll get slow down a bit and get a lot less hard to handle. It’s just difficult right now because there’s no official ruler of the kingdom so all the high priests and other nobles are trying to keep everything together without higher institution.” She paused, realizing that her help had somewhat turned into a rant and probably wasn’t helping.
((lmaoo oh no D: that don't sound nice lol))Eli nodded politely when Shaye talked about changing and growing. As they walked, Shaye started talking about how he might be stressed, but it will be better. When she paused, he gave a small chuckle. "And I thought I talked one's ear off," he joked. "But I get what you mean, Shaye." He told her. "I'm hoping that it slows down. I'm not sure how people will...accept the coronation, but..." He trailed off, shrugging.
“Well, a lot of people liked your parents, and I’m sure it’ll help having other nobles backing you up.” She said. “Are there any other rulers coming for the coronation, or is it just me?” She asked. Shaye pushed a stray hair back out if her bangs, blushing a little as she realized her hair had been a little messed up.
He paused. "I mean I sent invites out to all of the kingdoms, mainly the ones my father and mother wanted to come. And obviously you and your kingdom." He recalled. I've also invited my mates and a lot of their families and their mates, and most of the town square." he said.
“Wonderful.” She said. “I haven’t had much of a chance to meet the other rulers.” Shaye thought for a moment. “There’s gonna be a ball right?”
"I'm really hoping so. We have a ballroom after all." He said with a smile. "Though I'll have to find someone to play music and what not, and I'll have to figure out things to do, and..." he trailed. "But there will be a ball."
“Oh don’t worry.” She said. “I can always help with that part if you want. I think we should start sending messenger hawks to the other kingdoms first though.”
He nodded. "I have the Hawk Master sending them out as we speak." He said. "I just want the personal invites to go out first."
Shaye nodded. “Sounds good Eli.” She said. “Oh, looks like we found the court yard!” She said, as they came across large doors that lead to a large area open to the sky but closed in by the castle.
He chuckled. "Ah, we did." He said, looking around up at the sky. It was morning, and the warm breeze tickled the back of his neck as he sat on a bench.
Shaye sat next to him. “This is castle is huge..” She said. “Bigger and ours I think.”
He chuckled. "We get that lot." He said, blushing slightly. He didn't like bragging about how big his castle was, or how much money he had, and what not.
“Our castle is smaller I think, but we also have a lot of secret stuff that I’m not supposed to talk about.” She said. “Ya know, being elves and all, I have to be really secretive.” She joked.
He laughed and nudged her shoulder. "I got secrets of my own as well." He said with a wink. "Like for instance, I used to—wait no." He said, his face turning red as he inhaled. "I knew a friend who used to sleep with a few candles on a night, and they only stoped a year ago." He said, nodding his head as he (attempted) to save himself from embarssement.

“Yeah, ‘your friend’ huh?” She said, smiling. “Well, I ‘knew a friend’ that used to collect glow buds from willow trees because she couldn’t sleep in the dark either.”
He smiled at her. "Our "friends" should get to know each other then." He said. "Glow buds are pretty at night though," he said.
Shaye laughed a little at his joke. “Yeah, I saw you had one in the royal gardens. I think it’s the same on my grandfather gifted to yours when our kingdoms first became allies.” She said. “I could be wrong though.”
He thought about it. "Let me ask my—" he didn't trail off, rather he cut himself off. "Let me check out the archives later on, I'll see if he did." He said. He would usually ask his father, the King, since he did all the "lets become allies!", but since he passed, Eli had no one he could fully trust for help.
Shaye frowned slightly. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to.. bring that up.” She said. “Maybe we should go see if breakfast is in the dining hall yet..?” She asked, trying to change the subject.
He waved her off. "Don't worry about it." He reassured, trying to keep a smile. "Breakfast does sound nice. It's this way," He said, and started for what he assumed was the dinning hall but then spun around on heels, marching the opposite way, laughing lightly. "Never mind, it's this way. 25 years I've been here and yet I still get the Council Hall and Dinning Hall mixed." He said with a chuckle.
“It’s fine, although, I can barely navigate, which means if you can’t either we might get lost forever!” She said jokingly, making it sound more exaggerated as she went.
He laughed as she walked with him. "Looks like we've doomed ourselves." He joked as he turned right. "It's just down this way and then a left." He said.
“I guess so.” She said. After a few minutes of walking they came to the dining hall. Shaye had been a few times but it didn’t cease to amaze her. The chandelier, the long, pristine table, and the thrones at the end. She had a dining hall in her palace, but it was obvious different. Hers had more colorful lights, and a smaller, shiny black table. “It’s so amazing.” She mumbled.
He blushed slightly at her words. "Why thank you," he said. A servent came up to Eli, bowed, and then looked up at him. "Breakfast will be served in just a minute, your highness. Do you want this meal to be private or open?" She asked, and he thought about it. "Hm. Make the mean open to anyone who I've approved of being in the castle, including anyone who Shaye invited, though I'll take Shaye to my fa—" he cleared his throat. "I'll take Shaye here to my personal, and if she would like to invite anyone, she can." He said, glancing at her.
