This memoir tells the timeline of Paul Hole’s career flipping between cases and his personal life of his marriage. Specifically the struggles his jobs had caused during those relationships or landmarks of when his children were born.

The obvious main case of the book is the Golden State Killer which was an interest of his from the time he started his criminalist position until he helped solve the case. As he weaves through other cases and his personal life, he brings up snippets on how he just kept coming back to this case and how he just couldn’t let it stay cold. It is also the one he goes into depth most about concerning what actions were taken specifically to find DeAngelo as it does seem to be the case he takes most pride in.

I had no idea he was so involved with so many cases that were talked about nationwide and known by so many. Especially the case with the girl that was kidnapped for almost twenty years and had two kids with her attacker.

The book wasn’t anything mind blowing but it was a simple book to get through and it was interesting to see insights about some of the cases he was involved in solving.
