Good article. I have played quite a few games in these cozier genres and have noticed the same thing. I just picked up Against the Storm which is a fantasy town-builder where you build temporary little towns that will eventually succumb to a worldwide storm. Usually city-builders are about constant progress instead of about just holding back something that will eventually kill you. I also just saw a post about a farming/life sim (ala Stardew Valley) where someone in town is a serial killer! https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/this...Anyway, it's an interesting trend that will probably suck up a lot of my free time.
