This scene shows that Alec was on the outs with Lt. Lewis and that he would stand up for a young officer who needed a champion without any thought to his own career. Well, he is a Buchanan so of course he is a wonderful guy with principles.
Exactly, Anita. Garwood wanted to show us that Lt. Lewis has a personal grudge against Alec since he stuck up for the rookie officer. We also got to see what a stand-up guy Alec is. He didn't want the rookie fired over an innocent mistake.
Lt. Lewis had in in for Alec way before the confrontation over the rookie officer. This was a long-standing problem and probably a major reason Alec was looking at the FBI job.
I liked Alec right away for this scene. It was a good way to introduce him in the story and a good way for Regan to see him for the first time.
I agree with everyone! This scene told me a lot about Alec and his character but more importantly...it told Reagan a lot about Alec.
I agree with all of you. It tells us right away who Alec is, and who Lewis is as a person and a boss.
