They go back to the house and the mom has everything ready for a big reception after the funeral but no one comes. The town has shunned this woman for years. This is all I can remember. It is adult fiction, paperback, and probably written in the last 15 years. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Sounds to me like the opening for Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum. That happens in the beginning of the book, the town appears for the funeral but not the reception. The daughter is grown up and her and the mother have issues but both attend the funeral together.
Yes! I was reading another book where no one showed up after a funeral and it triggered this memory but I could not recall any more than that first scene. Thank you!
