A multi-generational family saga but it just didn't work for me. It is too much; too much drugs, too much profanity, too much sexual content. I wasn't drawn to any particular character. I gave it a C-.

I know what you mean.
I can't comment myself because I haven't read anything but The Source lately. It truly was the long read of the summer for me. But there's somebody out there whom it did work for and hopefully they'll throw in their reaction.

I actually thought that the chaos of this was reflecting on the actual chaos that is the current Israeli identity. People are no longer willing to be part of the collectives, but are chasing after the "prize" on their own. The society is more and more about those that have versus those that do not have; those that are like me versus those that are not. You need only to look at the headlines to see that the country is struggling for its identity.
