What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this used paperback -- golden yellow cover -- around 2005-2010, so the details are a bit fuzzy. It seems the main character was living in present day, maybe with his mom following a divorce. The Black Forest was a key location. One day while wandering alone in the forest, he found himself transported back in time. After returning to the present, he continued returning to the spot to time travel.

I don't know it, but I'd like to think we caught it here:

Your description reminded me of Enchantment by Orson Scott Card. However, it was set in the Carpathian Forest in Ukraine so I'm sure it's not the one you're looking for. Just mentioning it more as a recommendation if you're looking for something similar. :-)
