I guess that because there are still no Hugo nomination list or other important awards available, so we should probably go with 2023 works. If anyone has a specific idea or theme, please share with us all here

I was a bit busy this week, but it is sad that there are no nominees in the last six days. I'll start with Red Team Blues by Cory Doctorow

How about In the Lives of Puppets? Although I. was unhappy with T.J. Klune's last book that we read, Under the Whispering Door (too slow), I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea, so I am willing to try again.

Stephen Burridge | 236 comments Looks like Translation State is supposed to be published in early June, so I will nominate it.

Interesting, I haven't heard about it

I plan to create a poll in like 10 hours, if you have any other nominees rush up and post them

message 8: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlyanne) | 30 comments I am really looking forward to Translation State, but not sure I can get it from the library quick enough. So I will nominate The Road to Roswell by Connie Willis.

Just to inform you that currently the poll is tied, the deadline is May 15th so you may go and change your vote in you'd like

Kimberly (kimberlyanne) | 30 comments They are all such good options!

I definitely want to read this soonest, but not sure I can get it from the library in time, either

Yeah they are all books I would be interested in reading, but Some Desperate Glory is the one I already bought so I dont want to change my vote.

Stephen Burridge | 236 comments The ones that interest me are Translation State and Red Team Blues, and I’m fairly well back in the library queue for both of them.

Rebecca | 411 comments Do we want to make an executive decision that the top two (if we can get there) would we spread over two months. Seems like a really good list.

I guess the final decision will be made after the poll is over, and therefore, now members can suggest ways to go. If no change from the current 4-way tie then I guess using random to determine 1 monthly read. Also a possibility - to schedule all 4 books for the four months - July-October. Possible minus of this suggestion - people, who vote for a book scheduled for say Autumn may want to read it earlier. Also possible to setup 2 [or more] monthly reads but I guess it won't fly - see low participation in this month's monthly reads

My problem is my library. Have no idea when I can get any of these books because they are changing their whole system.

It's strange that "The Road to Roswell" had no votes. I almost changed to it because I am so excited for it, but I probably cannot get it soon, if ever. The library does not appear to be expecting to buy it.

I like to read it in general, but I feel no rush to get it, Connie Willis's recent books are cozy, they are comfort reads, while right now I want a bit more challenge

Rachel | 126 comments I have not yet voted, but also have behind on reading and not participating lately.
And the idea of being the decider is quite intimidating!

You decide or otherwise I should :)

Rachel | 126 comments How about I say that both Translation State and Red Team are of interest to me 😊

Ok, the poll has finished with 4-way tie. I now go random.org to see what wins. I now with roll for 1 novel, if anyone thinks that two books should be selected, please state it here.

Random.org gave 2, so In the Lives of Puppets will be the novel for July
