The worst of the worst of humanity. The poor people were a-holes the
rich people were a-holes. They were a-holes to each other, themselves and to animals (which is naturally where we have to draw the line)
On top of being horrible people they also made consistently terrible decisions. So how is a person supposed to enjoy this book?

The book certainly immerses you in a specific time and place and paints a gory picture of it. I just cannot imagine why anybody would want to go there. Didn’t even want to finish the last 10 percent and I’m sorry I did.

Was there any light or redemption? Retribution- yes. Redemption- no. Somehow I managed to make it through which counts for something but there wasn’t a single enjoyable aspect of this book.
