So stoked for this one!! Has anyone seen the trailer for the new adaptation? It looks god awful lol and I love cheesy horror movies. But even I'm gonna have to pass on that one.
No I haven’t seen it. I really don’t like watching any shows/ movies about Kings books. Always disappointing.

I want to welcome you to another month of King. This month we are jumping into another short story "Children of the Corn" from the short story collection Night Shift. This was one of the first short story collections from Stephen King that I read in high school. Most people know of this title either through memes, referencing freaking blonde children, the movie or the story itself. We are also continuing Kayla's Buzzwordathon with the the theme (flavors/seasonings/herbs). So if you are in both Goodreads groups you are killing two birds with one stone.
I'm in the last weeks of my credential program for Multiple Subject! Wow being in college at 42 is really hard lol. Playing my tiny violin, I hope you enjoy having the option of reading the entire short story collection or just the short story itself.
To delve into "Children of the Corn" history...it was first published in 1977 for Penthouse (Scandalous) and added to the short story collection in 1978. The story follows a couple who move to a small town in Nebraska that is inhabited by a cult of murderous children that just so happen to worship the devil in a corn field. So you know all good vibes :P
The move with the same name has been made several times, the first one being released in 1984, starring Linda Hamilton. Since then there has been ten more movies with the same title. Here are the movies in order, in case you have some free time this summer.
Children of the Corn (1984)
Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1993)
Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995)
Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering (1996)
Children of the Corn V: Field of Terror (1998)
Children of the Corn 666: Issacs's Return (1999)
Children of the Corn: Revelation (2001)
Children of the Corn: Genesis (2011)
Children of the Corn: Runaway (2018)
NEW ADAPTATION-Children of the Corn (2020)
They also did a tv remake back in (2009)
If you decide to watch these extra movies....please please tell me how cheesy these are. I can't imagine they are something to rave about. I did find the first movie disturbing...then again kids with a death stare are pretty disturbing.
Anyhow, I am so grateful for you all to be spending time with us on our Stephen King journey. I hope you all have a fabulous May and as always Happy Reading!
