Nominate books here for our non-King book for December. Please only nominate one book.. The King book has already been chosen so don't list a King book. Check the bookshelf to see if we've already read the book as a group. To do this go to the bookshelf and type in the name of the book you want to nominate and if we've read it the book will appear. I love this story, it is historical and it is dramatic.

The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D. Jackson. A very interesting take on Carrie, I really enjoyed it.

Horror. Early 1900's. In the old west. MC a black woman who drags around an old trunk with her.

If this is a King group, why nominate or even discuss non-King books? There are many other groups for that.

There are other good writers too, like Richard Bachman. He's my favorite. ^.^

We read a King book (in order of publication) and a book King likes or recommends rotating every other month. Though I think we've relaxed the rules on the bit about King liking the book.

I am new to the group.

Kindred by Octavia E. Butler is the first science fiction written by a black woman. Although not listed as a horror, it is pretty scary as a modern black woman unwittingly time travels into antebellum Maryland.

The book is a great read and, although I have not seen it, I hear was recently made into a Hulu series.

I didn't see a non-king pick for April or May. I look at the bookshelf & I see the March read How to Sell a Haunted House. Did I miss something?

I copied and pasted this from a post in December. The book is for June.

So we read a non-King every other month. We used to do book that King recommended but people were just nominating whatever books and it just became easier to do any non-King book. Some months I forget and get behind a month. So you may see a lapse in the group read of non-King books. Life happens :)
