15.5 Come Fly With Me

It’s the Summer holidays and time for jet-setting, woohoo! Every airport has an IATA Airport Code that identifies it – you’ve probably seen these codes on your luggage tags when you check in for a flight. Read a book by an author whose initials (in order) match one of these airport codes. IATA's official search function for airport codes is here: https://www.iata.org/en/publications/...

Examples: Arthur C. Clarke – ACC – Accra, Ghana
C.J. Sansom – CJS – Ciudad Juarez, Mexico
Tom Rob Smith – TRS – Trieste, Italy

Required: Identify the airport and the code when you post.

Tammy AZ (tammyaz) | 1241 comments Often on Goodreads, the author's name is listed in 3 parts like Melinda French Gates, but the book cover just has Melinda Gates. Can we use the GR name or just the cover name?

Names are always used as they appear in the Goodreads record, so it doesn't matter if the cover doesn't show the middle name.

Dee (austhokie) | 9031 comments question - if we find an airport code that isn't on the list in the link - as long as we can substantiate it - does that count?

i.e. LKA is the airport code for Gewayentana Airport in Indonesia (as seen here: https://airportcodes.aero/lka) but it doesn't show up on the list in the task thread

not an issue if you can't - but thought i would ask - I've found probably 5 airports now that show on other sites with IATA codes that aren't on that link

I've just found the official IATA search, so I'll update the task with that link instead (I really don't know why I didn't just use that one to begin with).

The new link should cover everything since it's from the body itself - at that point, if something doesn't show up as a search result I would have to disallow it.

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3752 comments Oh, a couple I'd failed to get to work under the old link now get results from the new one. Thank you.

Which does lead to another question: is an Air Base, rather than an Airport, okay? Specifically KAG.

Yes, an air base will work so long as it has a code.
