Joseph Patrick | 7 comments Hi, I'm new here. My name is Joseph and I joined because i also share in the idea that as Christians our focus should be the word of God more than fiction. Though I specialise in a difficult area where a lot of theories do develop - eschatology!

Wm. Wells (wmwwells) | 8 comments Welcome. Like you, I read very little fiction, however I am not a big fan of eschatology. Too many, Late Great... books out there.

Joseph Patrick | 7 comments Hi Marja - Oh no the book is not fiction. it is about our spiritual growth as Christians, and its bible based. I would not have joined if I wrote a fiction book. I was glad this site catered for non fiction!!

Yes, I get what you mean Wm. Eschatology got a bad rap with those types of books (e.g. the late great planet earth). And with most things, the fakes get more publicity than the real deal. if you can see the difference it will enhance your spiritual life and it remains essential to Christianity. Read Matthew 24 and the book of Revelation.

Bill Fix (thepeoplepastorbillfix) | 13 comments I read little to no fiction. I have surrendered to the enlightenment of good non-fiction books. Congrats on this book about Spiritual growth. Too many babies in Christianity that are not maturing.

Trust me... I read my Bible cover to cover every year. I do think the eschatology is important, but the Bible is clear, we won't know until God tells us its time.

Joseph Patrick | 7 comments Yes that's definite, we will not know until God says so (Matt.24:36), which is why most sensationalist books on this subject gives it a bad name. if it does not align with scripture it becomes a problem.

if we do not know the times we are in (Matt 24:39) how will we know when we are being deceived (Matt 24:24)? How will we then warn others by preaching / writing about it?

So, we still have to know the signs of the times: "Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don’t know how to interpret this present time?" (Luke12:56).

I believe Jesus wants us to have a deep knowledge of the end times. He wants us to read and digest it. In the book of Revelation (also called the The revelation from Jesus Christ) he said:
"Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near" (Rev.1:3).

Katherine Bradbury | 7 comments Hi Joseph. I’m new here and just read through your string of texts. I 100% agree with what you’re saying. The Lord made it very clear that we Christians need to make it a priority to be aware of the signs of the world of the end, and the return of our Savior Jesus Christ.

A lot of Christians in my life shy away from the book of Revelations because of the symbolism. They find it very confusing and difficult even though it’s self interpreting if read a little further in each chapter. A fantastic aid/study tool is “The Agents of the Apocalypse” book or dvd set (you may even find his sermons on YouTube) by Dr. David Jeremiah, pastor of Shadow Mountain Church and In Touch Ministries. I bought the dvd series and learned so much!! He makes it so easy and enjoyable to glean from his years of studying and teaching Biblical prophecy.

I hope your book does well!

Katherine
