The reason Jordan doesn't lean on her family is the same reason Kate refused to lean on her sisters. They want to be seen as strong independent women who don't need anyone's help. She does carry the "I can take care of myself" too far, but I also understand her not wanting to alarm everyone if it turns out to be nothing.
Jordan needs to consult an attorney about the lawsuit. Her brothers could help her out with her problems, or point her in the right direction. She is being ridiculous by not telling them.
I understand why Jordan delayed telling her family. They went through a lot of trauma already. She didn't plan to keep any bad news from them. She just wanted to be sure before she caused any worry. Also, whoever told Nick about his sister being in the hospital should be reported and fired. That is absolutely against HIPPA laws. Regardless of how close you are to someone, there is no excuse for sharing health data. Patients must sign a form releasing their information and who they will allow them to share it with. This is a firing offense.
Regarding the lawsuit, Jordan stubbornly refuses help from her family. She does want to appear weak, but sometimes strength comes from using the assets that are on your side.
Jordan's situation is different from Kate's. Kate's family doesn't have the same resources available to them. Kate's decisions will impact her sister's future, and she tries to protect them.
