Diana Hryniuk | 838 comments This psychological thriller captivated me from start to finish, keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout. The protagonist, Anna Fox, who narrates the story, grapples with mental issues, relying on a plethora of medication and indulging in copious amounts of wine without a doctor's prescription. I found it intriguing that the author deliberately portrayed her as an unreliable character, constantly questioning my beliefs and heightening the gripping nature of the narrative.

The novel presents several clever plot twists. While I anticipated one twist early on (view spoiler), the others caught me off guard, particularly the revelations surrounding her husband and daughter.

I must admit that I felt somewhat disappointed with the lack of action from the police. While I understand their initial scepticism towards Anna's claims, it seems reasonable to expect them to thoroughly investigate before drawing conclusions or, at the very least, refrain from leaving her in isolation.

Overall, the novel exhibits impeccable writing, skillfully alternating between past and present chapters. The characters were so vividly portrayed that they felt like real people, adding to the overall perfection of the story.

If you are interested, look into the author's controversy. It's just as twisty and turny as his book.
