You either love it, or you hate it - that seems to be the general gist of this series. And I honestly hope we mostly all love it because this series got a lot of votes and it would be a shame to have another series readathon flop.
It's a very divisive series, but we've read another one of those before (Keeper of the Lost Cities) and we mostly all enjoyed either the books or reading them just to hate on them😂
I, for one, am intrigued to see what all the hype is about and if this series is really the MG masterpiece that some suggest it is...

Also whilst setting up the readathon page for this series, I've realised that there's not actually 5 books in this series!
The original series has 3 books. Then there's a sequel series called the Camelot Years which also has 3 books. Because the sequel series is a continuation of the original trilogy, some people consider it to be part of the original series and label Camelot Years book 1 as the School for Good and Evil book 4.
This trilogy grouping is actually ideal for us. Because this series can be so polarising, it's a better idea for us to read the original trilogy first and if we've had our fill of the series we can stop there without feeling like the story is incomplete or like we've cut the readathon short. And then if there is a clamour to continue, we can read the sequel series as well!

I'm excited about this one! I watched the movie of this book last month and it was great! I'll try to read the book this time:)-Happy Reading:D
See your excitement is getting me excited Patricia! Sometimes you just need to be a bit hyped for a read like this.
I’ve not watched the movie but I did see it has the girl from the Beetlejuice musical and she’s a fantastic singer. I’m not sure if she sings in the movie though, that’s just an observation lol. I’ve heard that fans of the books weren’t happy with the movie though because they changed too much so if you liked the movie it’d be interesting to see if you like the book as much as well.

That's amazing! That girl from the Beetlejuice musical sounds interesting! I like the movie and I think it was nice and also I hope the book too!
I'm currently reading it and it was nice so far. I was thinking if we're going to read the whole series or just three books. This book has 6 series in total and I'm excited to read the whole series!

I think we’ll start with just the first 3 books and then see how interested people are to read further. I have to say and this is completely unrelated to my interest is the series but the last 3 books have way nicer covers than the first 3😂 that’s just a random thought that comes up when I think of the new books in the series vs the older ones. They must’ve had a bigger cover art budget once the series became more popular or something

I guess the three books are colorful but come one as they say, don't judge a book by its cover! Maybe I will like to read the first one:D
I'm half-way through book one. It feels like it should be wrapping up, so I don't know where it's going to go.

I just finished Book 1. I got into it for awhile, but started getting annoyed with the main characters about halfway through. It felt like they kept doing the same things over and over and lacked character development and depth. For me, it was perfectly fine, but didn't blow me away.
I almost finish reading it. I like it so far but still, I prefer the movie. But I guess the book 2 of this book would be great.
I’m finally starting this one!🎉
So far it’s funny how prissy Sophie is. I keep thinking of her as the Sophie from the keeper of the lost cities series and from her physical description she doesn’t seem that different but they have totally diff personalities

I have already finished reading this one! I gave this 4 stars:). I'm going to start reading tomorrow book 2 of this book.

We are! I'm setting up the discussion page for it now. I've been very disorganised this month🤦🏻♀️

I'm glad you enjoy reading the book 1 of this book. Thanks for telling me and maybe I'm going to continue the series of this book:)

haha, I love this series! I've reread the original trilogy and read the sequel trilogy, there is also Ever Never handbook that has cool extra stuff like portraits and uniforms that should be read after the original trilogy because it has spoilers for it!
There is also a prequel series focused on the schoolmaster brothers that I don't recommend because it doesn't really add anything we don't already know and has no connection to the original trilogy! :)
