I will nominate A Meditation on Murder by Robert Thorogood. Set in the Caribbean, it is the first in the series that launched Death in Paradise on TV.
I will nominate, Things You Find In Rockpools by Gregg Dunnett. It’s the first book in a series of three.
My nomination is The Maid's Diary by Loreth Anne White. Set in Canada it's the story of Kit Darling, a maid/cleaner of the houses of the well-to-do. But Kit has an addiction to snooping and collecting secrets.
Hi Ted, I read it a few years ago. It's good. Probably his best. I've read a few more of his since then. They are good but not as good.
Fun in the sun? I would have thought there'd be some Hiaasen or maybe Dave Barry nominated? I'll throw this one out there if anyone is interested:
Miami Blues by Charles Willeford
The movie version with a very young Alec Baldwin and Jennifer Jason Leigh always makes me laugh. I think of it whenever I hear this song (which was featured prominently in the film's soundtrack): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRFo7...

I had thought about nominating Florida Roadkill by Tim Dorsey (my husband LOVES his books and has read them all) but when I think of sun and fun, my mind instantly goes to the Caribbean.

“Look Closer" by David Ellis will leave you astonished. With its numerous twists, this suspenseful rollercoaster will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.
Okay everyone, nominations are closed. Before today's over I hope to have a poll up and running and will let everyone know when it is.
Hi, all.
The poll is up and ready for your vote. I'm not sure they all capture the "sun and fun and crime" vibe I was going for, but I'll chalk that up to me not being descriptive enough.
Donna: Your nomination for Look Closer came in after the deadline so I didn't include it. Normally I probably would have but we had a lot of books nominated and I didn't want the field any more crowded. Please keep it in mind for another month.

Time to discuss a July read? Whoa, where is the year going?
Anyway, what better for a summer read than a setting where the sun shines most the time and the feeling is just lay back -- but not too "lay back." Amid the vacationing throngs, along the beckoning beaches, between a fruity drink or two, there should be a crime to consider.
So, offer up your nominations for a sun and fun and crime read.
The usual disclaimers apply:
1. do NOT nominate your own book
2. if your nomination tops the poll you will lead the discussion. Obviously you shouldn't nominate a book if you don't wish to participate.
3. also, please check the group's bookshelf to make sure we haven't read your nomination in the last couple of years.
You have until next June 12 to nominate, and then I set up a poll.
Have fun!
