I just wanted to say that you should announce the book a few days before the month starts so people who don’t have the book yet can buy / order it and start reading it on the 1st. It sometimes takes a few days before the book arrives if you order it.

that is a great suggestion! however, i don’t do this for a number of reasons. the poll for the book of the month doesn’t end until the day before, meaning that people can vote, causing for the book to change. in fact, if he had been with me and our winning book caraval were tied for much of the poll’s duration.

i also email out reminders several days before for people to vote on said poll. members may not see the message until later (or may not have known there was a poll!) and then vote, causing the book to change. i don’t want people to order a book that we will not be reading, which is why i announce it the day of the book of the month, when the poll closes.

in the meanwhile, i attach a pdf link for those who cannot buy the book or whose book has not arrived yet. that way, they can still read without falling behind!

Im fine with that so don’t see this as something rude, but you could possibly also just close the poll a few days earlier. That way the book won’t change :)
