I have this on my tbr and looking forward to reading it soon! glad you have such favorable things to say about it, especially since you don't normally do horror.

I will be looking out for your review whenever you have a chance to read it.

Protagonist Isserley routinely drives a highway in Scotland, spotting male hitchhikers to pick up, but only those of a muscular build. She makes casual conversation with them to find out if they meet certain specific criteria. It is best to go into this knowing it is disquieting and without finding out too much about the plot beforehand. It is a mix of science fiction, horror, and literary fiction. It is one of those books that starts out with a few breadcrumbs, and gradually reveals more about what is going on. Even though I do not normally like horror or suspense, I could not put it down. The author’s storytelling ability is exceptional. I have read other books by Michel Faber and am impressed by his range of subject matter and his lyrical prose. This book provides both social commentary and a creative (and disturbing) storyline.
PBT Comments: I would love to know what those who read and enjoy horror think about this book.
