Team Amethyst
Hi everyone! I'm super excited for this challenge. The last round was so much fun. I'm Katie and I'm currently living in Pittsburgh, PA (so EST). I read mostly romance and tend to read about a book a day.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you!
Yeah! We are finally up :)Hi I'm Carmen and I'm an addict of fun, fun, fun. I like all kinds of genres and read about 10-20 a month, depending on the quietness of my household. I live in New York, also eastern time. I really enjoyed the first Wheel-a-thon and I hope we all have fun in this challenge as well. I also was on the Team Tower too which was a lot of fun too. Ok enough chatting lol.
Can't wait to start :)
Hello guys :) I'll be your friendly mod helper for this challenge. Please feel free to ask about any questions you might have.
Hello everyone! I'm Diane. I read about 14 books a month. I like fantasy/science fiction, real European and American non-fiction history books, and classics. I'm originally from Maryland but currently live in Georgia, also eastern time zone.I am usually reading more than one book at a time -- I read 30-100 pages of one book, then move on to another one.

Hi Team
We had duplicate sign-up entries for Carmen, so we've had to remove her from this team and we have replaced her with new team members Sophie and Kim! :D

Hi, I'm looking forward to this! Is the first wheelathon I've been involved with but I've taken part in 2 Tower Teams now.
I'll read most genres - although I'm definitely not a fan of horror... Will normally get through between 10 - 15 books a month depending on what is going on in RL. I normally have 2 books on the go at a time - 1 to read, and 1 audio book to listen to on the way to work etc.
I'm based just outside London in the UK so a little way away from the rest of you!

Hi Team! Looking forward to chatting with you all. I'll read most anything but my favorites are historical romance or mystery and crime. I'm living in Wichita, KS. Katie, I used to live in Murraysville and my daughter Kate was born there.
...and Sophie, maybe we could all come visit you???
Hi everyone! I am excited to get started. I haven't done the wheel-a-thon challenge before, so this will be my first time playing. :)
That's great, Chris! I just moved here a little over a year ago. I'm from MI, but was living in CA so it's nice to be back in the midwest. :) I can't wait for this one to start! Speaking of which...when does it start??
Chris wrote: "I think it starts on the 22nd.Kim, you'll enjoy - the first time was fun."
Oh good! Thanks!
You're all more than welcome! Loads of interesting things to do round here.
Glad we've got a couple of people on the team who took part last time! You'll have to keep the rest of us on track

Right I'm nosy and it's quiet in here at the moment - so I'd like to know a bit more about you all and what you get up to when you're not reading.
To start things off - RL for me at the moment is being spent organising a house move and the v early stages of wedding planning. To relax I bake, knit and swim. Currently preparing myself for a 2.5km swim for charity which is the furthest I'll ever have gone in one go.

Congratulations Sophie! Good luck with the move. The packing is terrible, but the unpacking is even worse! I can't stand moving. Way to go with the 2.5K swim! That's amazing.I'm a stay at home mom. I love to cook/bake, cross-stitch and sing. Mostly, though, I pick up toys (which end up in the strangest places), play with my daughter and catch cat naps when I can. :P
I know the "move" is coming - just waiting for the house to sell. You have my sympathy.I like to knit, spin and weave. I play some golf, yoga and love to walk with my two Boston terriers. I've grown fond of audiobooks and the hands-free reading experience. Gives me more time for other activities.
Thanks guys. What makes it worse is the fact that it's the first of 2 moves in the next 6 months and there may be another one not long after that... Fiance is off to New York for 3 months so I'm moving to hospital accommodation and then we're moving back in together in a new area in August when my job moves. Is giving me a headache thinking about packing for 3 different destinations!
Chris I hope everything goes smoothly and the house sale doesn't take too long.
Katie sounds like your daughter is v lucky to have you around all the time.

I'm having a bit of an empty nest here as my youngest 2 are off at college. My youngest son is "at uni" in England --- I LOVE SKYPE!!!! My older son will live with us forever as he's disabled. And --- my eldest daughter is a nurse in the ICU at the local hospital, happily married to a very good man. Their "weekend" is Wednesday, plus or minus a day, so that's when I usually see them.My husband works from home most of the time -- I'm so happy that he doesn't have that commute anymore (well, only a couple times per month). And I read :0)
Skype when you're in a different country to your loved ones is a brilliant invention - so long as you can get the time difference to work.
Have just had a look at the spreadsheet - we've got Granite Gray (note to self... not grey...) as our first colour. I'm thinking of reading
by Diana Gabaldon as my 1st book of the week. Should cover both the grey cover and one of the Gs.
Anyone else got thoughts on which letters they'll be able to do?

I'll probably post a list with everything I've got that I hope to fit in a week. I'll repost when I finish a book. That seemed to work pretty well last time. :)I hope Alexander stops in soon! We should probably let a mod know if we're captainless by Friday night.
With my last team, we all posted the books we were reading and what letters it could work for. Then the captain put the books where they best fit and periodically let us know what letters we could use more of.
That sounds like a much easier way to keep track of what everyone is up to.
Hopefully Alexander will appear soon - think everyone else has stopped by to say hi at least

Phooey! I just finished Gone Girl today - would have worked for G's if I'd checked in. Do they usually post in this thread what we're reading, or do we need to go check the spreadsheet?
I have to read a book by Rebecca Zanetti for another challenge - it will work for one of the "R"s - I'm planning on
Last round they posted the categories in the team threads. I don't know how they'll do it this time around, though.
Last time, the captain set up a message and everyone read/posted the books that fit. The trick was to keep it updated so we all knew what was available to read. For example:G - Sophie A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon
✔R - Chris Forgotten Sins by Rebecca Zanetti

I think it would be better to have one person figuring out where to best put the letters. A lot of books will be able to potentially cover more than one letter, and if we all go in and just pick a spot to put them we might miss the best opportunities for that book.
If we all post what we're reading with character names etc that wilk help whoever is putting it all together at least.
Hope everyone has a good Friday! Always get excited by the weekend... More time to read

Alexander hasn't responded to PMs so we have replaced him with Sireen
Please welcome your new captain! (and it may be helpful if someone is able to volunteer to be co-captain)

Hello,If the captains need access to the official spreadsheet please send me a PM with the e-mail you use for google docs.
Thanks
I hope you guys are ready to start tomorrow! Yay!We still appear to be captainless, so maybe we should all just post the books we hope to read this week with the letters they work for and whoever ends up captaining us will be able to step in and see what's going on.

Looks like we should manage this weeks! Hopefully our captain will appear soon.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends. Went out for a meal with 18 friends last night - makes it difficult to talk to everyone but was good to see them. Now just sorting out all the washing etc before the start of another week.

It was thanks!
Have just had a closer look at the rules on characters and it seems to suggest that if they have 1 line of dialogue then can be counted! Hopefully that'll make it a bit easier to fill in the gaps we've got.
There's an Ian in what I'm reading at the moment, and an Elizabeth. Will keep my eyes open for others.

Sireen hasn't responded to our messages, so we have replaced your captain (3rd time lucky)!
Please welcome Eldarwen! I know her from another group where she is the captain of a group kicking all our butts so you're in good hands :)
