Saaaaaame omg I haven't cried this hard reading a book in a long time. This book was amazing!

My life has no meaning until November lmao

And Violet was just a good lead!!! Right from the start she admitted she had flaws and you saw her grow in confidence throughout the book. So refreshing after so many of the over powered, angsty female leads of other books in the genre.

Yes!!! So agree with what you said about females leads. I love Violet. She has so much inner strength ugh! My queeeen!
"I will not die today!"

Lol I did the same thing! Saw the hardcover at Costco and picked it up and then grabbed the audible copy and DANG that narrator can narrate. The emotion and urgency she projected??? Beautiful beautiful beautiful performance.

I loved Xadon’s POV and really enjoyed him and Violet; they really made the story.

I adore Teddy Hamilton :') He did Zade on Haunting/Hunting Adeline too. However Xaden and Zade give off opposite vibes so I thought it was a little strange bc I had a hard time separating the two in my brain

1.) It had an coming of age/realizing destiny/Ender’s Game feel to it.
2.) I really like how inclusive this writer is and how she doesn’t draw undue attention to differences between people. She just brings these characters to life and let’s the reader adjust however their inclined.
3.) so SO HOT 🔥🔥 I can’t believe I got this awesome story along with all the sexiness.
4.) I love how the lead character isn’t infallible. She struggles, copes, compromises, and grows.
The only things that I wish this first installment had more of is world building and a dive into the realm’s politics.

The introduction to the world and description was something else comparing it to other fantasy books. This one was easily understandable and didn't feel bored! Loved the characters! Now after reading your guys comments on the audiobook, I might just reach out for it!

Welcome and yes I was also jumping and also ugly crying a lot. Those characters are super hard not to get attached to.
Especially the dragons!
I mainly read it on kindle but switched to audio if I had to walk somewhere or do chores because I couldn’t wait until after haha.
I was hooked!

Right??? I feel she had the right amount of angst and badassery without being annoying. Queen.

I loved Xadon’s POV and ..."
I felt the same way! I was feeling so-so for the beginning of the book but the ending relly changed my mind. I felt like the perfect amount of cliffhanger was left.

As someone who has the same chronic illnesses as the author and main character, Violet, this book felt extra special to me.
I love that RY pulled from Scottish Gaelic. The name meanings tying to the storyline and characters gives extra depth.
The ending cliffhanger had me screaming and the theories are running amok.

I also loved the gaelic influence on the names and the girl on TikTok who taught me how to prounounce them!

😭 but it comes out the day of my birthday, so I’m definitely getting it as a present to myself lol

✔️Badass FMC
✔️ Enemies to Lovers
✔️ Great side characters
✔️ Talking in each others mind
+ Xaden freakin catching a dagger Vi threw at him is a huge bonus too 😏

Fortunately, i misunderstood the fanart and thought she’d just bond with a gold dragon and that the black one was supposed to be Xaden’s so i was SHOOK when she got two!
I also LOVED Liam and cried my eyes out on a public transport while white knuckling my reading tablet to keep myself from throwing it out the window.

Fortunately, i misunderstood the fanart and thought she’d just bond with a gold dragon and that the black one was..."
Thankfully no. I was so oblivious hadn’t even heard of that book. I follow another author on Insta who is actually best friends with Rebecca Yaris and she posted about Fourth Wing to support her friend and that’s why I read it lol. And it was like maybe a couple of days after it was released I think? So I managed to avoid spoilers.

The characterization of Violet was so refreshing!! Finally a female lead that admits she has flaws and struggles, and then you see her grow throughout the book. So many female leads in the genre these days are over powered, emotionally damaged, and/or straight up abrasive. I actually felt a connection to Violet because she seemed real.
Can’t wait until the sequel!!

i’m working on my full review (hopefully will have it up in the next day or two!), but i definitely think fourth wing reads as romantasy rather than fantasy with romance. based on the ending though, i think that will flip flop in book two. kind of how mist & fury was more focused on the romance and wings & ruin and was more focused on the war/the plot! overall, i loved fourth wing, and i’m really excited to see how the full scope of the story develops in iron flame in november :)

Can we also talk about Violet and Tairn's relationship? I cackled so many times over their interactions. It's such a well rounded relationship. <3

YES!!!! Saaaame! I loved their relationship so much. And when she doubted herself and think she’s just not strong enough to be a good rider and he says “I know exactly who and what you are Violet Sorrengail”. I don’t know why but that moment got me super emotional.

I can’t wait till November 🥲
It was captivating from the beginning and there wasn’t a dull moment, a real page turner (metaphorically since i listened to the book hehe)
Only issue with the audiobook was in the beginning the narrator was sick but she is amazing!!! I forgot i was listening to a book it felt like watching a movie.
Of course now I have to find something to fill the void.

…Well I caved and started reading it Friday night. Finished it Sunday night. Started listening to the audible on my commute home tonight as I have a MASSIVE FOURTH WING GAP AND IM NOT READY FOR IT TO BE OVER 😭😭
This book was so good, I’m so surprised because often books that get hyped up to that point leave me with such high expectations. This delivered and then some.
I really hope we get to see and learn more about the dragons throughout this story, maybe a Tairns POV?
But I looove the in-depth history, the politics, the fights and strategy and the charcters. Obsessed with Xaden 🔥 and I see a lot of me in violet: I love that her flaws stay she doesn’t just stop breaking and dislocating, she just builds up and works hard. And all the side characters are perfect too. Perfection. The whole thing.
WHAT DO I READ NOWWWW 😭😭

The authors handle is Belle_beebee on ArchiveofOurOwn. I’ve never really been one to read fanfic, but see releases a chapter a day and it have been getting me through the past month! if you enjoy fanfiction, dual POV and that comfort of rereading something (kinda for the first time) I can’t recommend it highly enough!
I figure I’ll do another reread of Violet’s version before IF releases. 🖤🐉
