WEEKLY CHECK-IN
June 11, 2023 -- Week 24

Do you usually review books? If so, where?
(Example: Facebook, Amazon, other book retails sites, YouTube, Instagram, a personal blog, here, etc!)

If you want, feel free to share ONE link in the comments and follow along with others' reviews as you'd like.

Carol (cquan01) | 622 comments I always post on the WW Reading Group and the 52BookClub Goodreads and Facebook groups. I don’t write lengthy reviews, but do post a star rating and Monthly Wrap-up and post those on WW and FB.

message 3: by Kathi (new)

Kathi | 192 comments I usually write a brief review at Goodreads when I finish a book. Occasionally I have written a review at Amazon. My reviews are not formal book reviews; they consist of a Goodreads star rating, my personal rating on a 10 point scale (allows for a little more nuance), and a few comments and observations about what I liked and/or didn’t like.

message 4: by Michele (new)

Michele Olson | 594 comments Unless I feel strongly one way or another, I usually don't review books.

message 5: by Beth (new)

Beth | 149 comments I write a few lines in my book journal (and on Goodreads) that help remind me what I liked about the book. I don't actually review books per se.

message 6: by Kim (new)

Kim Hampton | 266 comments I review on Goodreads and StoryGraph, and also post on Facebook.

message 7: by Beth (new)

Beth | 212 comments I review books here on GoodReads occasionally. And from time to time, I get to write a review for Library Journal.

message 8: by Haley (new)

Haley Just here on Goodreads - although there's a new website my job is using for the summer called Beanstack. So far I've reviewed 2 or 3 books on Goodreads since I started on Beanstack, and I've just posted the reviews on both websites.

Edit Rasztik | 43 comments This year one of my new years resolutions was to write at least one line about every book/article/etc I read. I write these into my reading journal and some of them are good enough to transfer it to GoodReads or to the hungarian Moly.hu.

I learned literature at uni and wrote pages of book reviews. But since graduation I fell out of the practice. Last year brought myself back to reading books, this year I want come back to writing reviews.

message 10: by Necmi (new)

Necmi Çoban | 106 comments I rarely write reviews just here.

message 11: by Heather (new)

Heather (libliophile) | 114 comments I keep a little notebook where I take notes on the books I read and I try to write a review for as many books as I can. But usually, I only put reviews on Goodreads.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) | 57 comments I used to have a book blog (technically I still do) and was a top reviewer on a few sites, but a few years ago my aging parents started failing so my husband and I moved in with them to take care of them. I got out of the habit of reviewing then, and since they have both passed and I am back to reading a lot more, I have tried getting back to reviewing, but I just can't seem to get back into the rhythm. When I do review I usually write the review on Goodreads, then copy it or link it to Facebook, twitter, and Netgalley if it is a Netgalley book. I used to review on Amazon on a regular basis, but lately they haven't accepted my book reviews even though I am a VINE voice and review a lot of other products on their site.

message 13: by Denise (new)

Denise | 643 comments I rarely write reviews, just give them a "star" rating. I don't have time and I don't really read the reviews either.

I do have a journal where I write a few lines about what i liked/disliked about the book just for myself.

message 14: by Natalya (new)

Natalya | 33 comments I write short reviews in my instagram posts.

message 15: by Karin (new)

Karin | 21 comments Yes, I write them at the book and post them at Play Book Tag GR group which is about writing reviews for tag (a term from Shelfari which is where the group was founded) aka shelves but also anyting 150+ pages.

message 16: by Kristine (new)

Kristine | 19 comments Yes, I always write a review. I joined up for NetGalley, so you need to review the book if you get an Advance Release Copy. That was really fun during Covid and read so many great books. Now, I am very selective about putting in for books. I have so many to read already and my Mom got sick, so was getting behind. I have mostly caught up, but now am waiting until the book comes out. I still review though. Many times for myself. I read a lot and will remember I loved a book, but start forgetting details about it. So, I’m checking my own review. 😂 I love Great Groups and Challenges like this one, so always great for looking back over.

message 17: by Donna (new)

Donna (drspoon) Yes, I write reviews for all of the books I read and post them on GR.

Christina ❤️M❤️ (christir1159) | 79 comments I tried my hand at actual reviews. Who really reads those things anyway. Now I just give my opinion and a star rating, then move on to the next book.

message 19: by Lisa Marie (new)

Lisa Marie Kemmerer (readingwithlisamarie) | 325 comments I have left my opinion on books I have read here on GoodReads but I haven't ever did an actual review of a book. Again, I usually will leave my opinion about the book I just finished and I rate it.

message 20: by Hilde (new)

Hilde Helseth | 281 comments I have read Gudabröllop by Li Österberg for the prompt #3 Title starting with the letter “G”. I loved Li Österbergs comics so much that after reading the ones from the library, bought my own copies. This is greek mythology in a new way.
