Nick and Noah ride in like the cavalry to save Jordan and butt heads with Chief Maggie Haden who is obviously crooked. Share your thoughts on Noah’s reaction to Jordan’s jailing and facial injuries and what it tells readers about his real feelings. Thoughts on the way the two men used their status and connections to take charge of the scene – even having the chief of police fired?

It was clear that Noah was super protective of Jordan. I thought that the two agents were throwing their weight around town, which was not a good look for this bystander reader.

On the one hand Jordan was a stranger. They didn't know who she was or her connection to the dead man. On the other hand, they treated her with total disrespect, and I was afraid something bad was going to happen to her.

Noah was livid and with good cause. He was itching to do some real physical harm to Maggie but has to settle for bring the full weight of the FBI down on her head.

I liked the way Noah and Nick took over. It is obvious that something wasn't right in these towns. Neither sheriff knew how to do their job. Maggie had to lose her job. Her attitude would get her in trouble eventually and that prisoner wouldn't have anyone to help him or her out.

Both Noah and Nick were angry, but Noah was more vocal. Noah always felt something for Jordan, it seemed to me.

I loved the way the guys took over the situation at the jail. They knew what questions to ask and quickly figured out that Maggie was corrupt.

It was obvious from the start that Noah had feelings for Jordan. I think he was the only person who didn't know it.

Kudos to Jordan for keeping her cool while being arrested. She was smart enough to keep her mouth shut during questioning and noted that Maggie hadn't mirandized her. Maggie was really dumb to threaten Jordan while she was recording her interview. How was she going to explain her threats to let Jordan starve in the cell? And when Jordan requested an attorney, Maggie ignored her. It's all on the tape.

I have a trigger while reading cozy mysteries when it comes to bumbling small town cops who inevitably arrest an innocent person with no cause. This book was even worse than that because Maggie was more than just bumbling stupid, she was outright corrupt. So you bet I was happy that Nick and Noah threw their weight around. If it had been anything less, I might have stopped reading.

It feels like some of these cops got their badges out of a cereal box.

I agree! Corruption among cops is inexcusable! I loved the way Nick and Noah took care of the problem in this small town.
