Indeed, I havent read much of his work but he was clearly a hugely inventive mind and had a lareg following of loyal readers who were genuinely distressed by his passing.

I'm a huge fan. I have the whole Discworld series on my shelves, and have read them all several times. One of the clever things about them is that, although they're listed as "fantasy" they actually very real, pinpointing very human emotions and pretensions brilliantly. And Terry was a great bloke, very warm and funny with his fans, and also campaigning for Orang-Utangs (even when he was clearly very sick) and also for Alzheimer's research and for assisted dying. (And I cried when I heard about his death.)

I thiknk a lot of others did too Susanne. My daughter has been a fan since childhood and she really felt his death as a personal loss. He obviously was a very special man.

I thought it fitting therefore to set up this topic so that people can comment on his work. I confess I had not read his books, other than one a couple of years ago, but he was clearly a man of immense talent and I can understand why he meant so much to people who read him extensively.
