🌹Theme - Ten Things I Hate About You🌹

The dates will begin on Saturdays at 6 PM EST, at that time the task for each date will be announced. Books must be completed and posted by the following Friday at Midnight EST. Roses will be awarded before the next date begins. Each date we will be working towards spelling out B-A-C-H-E-L-O-R. The tasks for each letter will be posted in advance, but you will not know which task will be used until the date begins.

Roses are earned by:
🌹 The First Rose 🌹 Teams earn this rose by reading 4 books fitting the task during the date. (One rose possible per team per date.)
Bonus roses may be earned by:
🌹 Speed Dating Rose 🌹 The team that has 4 members finishing 4 books (1 each) and posts in the Q&A/Announcement thread first wins this bonus rose. Note, posting is required to earn this rose. (One rose possible per date.)
🌹 Team Dating Roses 🌹 Teams with each member completing the task (with a minimum of 6 books read) earn 3 additional roses. (Three roses possible per team per date.)
🌹 Serial Dating Rose 🌹 For every multiple of 8 books read, teams will earn a rose. So 8 books is one rose, 16 books is 2 roses, 24 books is 3 roses and so on. (Number of roses will vary each date, maximum of 7 per team per date.)
🌹 Multiple Date Rose 🌹 The player who reads the most books for the date earns this bonus rose for their team. (One rose possible per date unless there is a tie.)
🌹 Longest Date Rose 🌹 The player that reads the longest book for the date earns this bonus rose for their team. Please note that boxed sets and anthologies will NOT be counted towards this rose! (One rose possible per date unless there is a tie.)
🌹 Page Turner Rose 🌹 The team that reads the most combined pages for the date, first edition Kindle only for page count, earns this bonus rose. (One rose possible per date unless there is a tie.)
🌹 Scavenger Hunt Rose 🌹This special rose is earned by finding a book that fits each rule for the letter the date represents, for example B is for ??? (hidden task), Big Bang (night sky), Bland (average rating 3-3.99) and Brat (selfish hero/heroine). After posting your completion, post in the Scavenger Hunt thread to claim the book. Both posts, in your team thread and the Scavenger Hunt thread, should list the qualifications for each task, i.e. be identical. This rose may be earned multiple times per date but only once per book. The first person to post each book claims the rose for that book. (Number of roses available per date will vary, maximum of 7 per person per date.)

Teams will not be eliminated even if they earn no roses, they will have a chance to catch up by earning additional roses on other dates. Players will be eliminated if they do not complete the task on two cumulative dates. Eliminated players will not be replaced. Remember, players are allowed to read multiple books for a given date in order to earn bonuses and/or to make up for teammates who do not read their book or who have been eliminated.

❤️Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only!❤️ If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book.

❤️If corrections are requested, REPOSTS ARE REQUIRED!❤️ If I request a correction for a page count or qualifier for example, you must repost your Completion Post or your book will not be counted!

❤️I strongly suggest that you create a BLANK template for your completion posts.❤️ DO NOT copy a prior post. DO NOT copy a teammate's completion. Start EVERY completion post from the blank template! This will help eliminate copy/paste errors along with missing components in a completion post.

Although you will not need to make selection posts like in the PtP, your teammates might like ideas for what to read so sharing what you are reading could be very helpful. If you choose to make selections posts, make sure they are clearly identified as such. If you have any question if your book qualifies, it would be better to find out before you read it - ask your teammates or in the Q&A/Announcement thread.

🌹Theme - Ten Things I Hate About You🌹

Books must be 90 pages and MPG Romance. Contemporary Romance, Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance or similar is acceptable, but it must be romance. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS on the MPG Romance rule. We will be using the English language first edition Kindle page count ONLY for this challenge. Audiobooks and rereads are ok. Abridged audiobooks are NOT ALLOWED for this challenge. Books can only be read once per person during the challenge even if it fits multiple categories. Once the task for the date is announced, you may not tag a book so that it fits or edit any lists - this must be done before the date begins.

MPG = Main Page Genre:
On the main page of the book on the right hand side there is a section that says "Genres". Anything listed under that section is counted as an MPG.

MPG Romance = Main Page Genre Romance:
In the "Genres" section described above, there must be 'Romance". It could be Contemporary Romance, Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance or MM Romance, but it has to have 'Romance' listed.

At the beginning of each date, one of the tasks for that week’s letter will be randomly selected. The letters spelling out ‘BACHELOR’ will be used in order. You need to read a book that meets the task requirement(s), as well as any other challenge-related requirements outlined in Kat’s posts, to complete the task.

Details about each task’s requirements will be provided prior to the beginning of that specific date. I will do my best to copy and paste that post here, but you can always check the Q&A, tracking, and announcements thread for Kat’s post regarding requirements

Hey team 5 I’m so excited to get this round started! I’ve participated in each round of this challenge and have been captain a couple times also.

I read almost everything in the romance genre and am typically willing to try any subgenre once. I’m not big on inspirational or YA, though. I can’t wait to see what fun tasks we pull for this round and whether I can find any books to fit for a scavenger hunt rose.

Our first task as a team is to decide on a name…the theme for this round is the Ten Things I Hate About You. I’m not great with team names so I’m way open to better ideas so get them posted! 😁

Finally, I’ve created a separate Team 5 group for our team only so we can discuss potential SH books or anything else related to the challenge that we aren’t looking to share…so be on the lookout for an invite.

Hello Team 5 and thank you, Kathy, for being our captain! I have participated in all but 1 of the Bachelor challenges as far as I know.

I love historical romance, contemporary romance, and sweet romance but not so much erotica but have taken 1 or 10 for my teams.

I am not that great with researching so I'm looking forward to our private thread when others might have books to post that they don't care to read or already have read and they're "easy finds" for me. Some books are pretty easy to research for this challenge but some are not at all.

Sometimes I can come up with good ones but not always. Ten Things I Hate About You for a Bachelor romance? lol LOVE IT!

Hi Team! I'm Grace and I live in San Diego and am on Pacific Time. I love the Bachelor Challenge and think I've participated in all of them. I'm looking forward to getting started! I read primarily MF romance and jump around genres, but paranormal romance is one of my favorite.

Just as a scheduling note, I'm going on vacation this Thursday to Disneyworld and will be coming back home next Thursday. I'm trying to get a list of books that will fit the the 3 themes together so I can pick one to read while gone. I will make sure to read a book but probably wont be able to post it till Friday morning (it most likely will be what I'm reading on the plane ride back :)

Hi Everyone

I’m Hazel I’m in Glasgow, Scotland so on GMT time. I think I’m either 4 or 5 hours ahead of Pacific time but I’m a late to bed and early to rise so should catch all team messages. I have missed the last one or 2 bachelor challenges but played the rest and most of the time been a captain. Kathy and Kat I’ve read and understand the rules.

I am good with any genre except horror. I’ve started looking at potential books that fit the known criteria so happy to contribute to the ‘other’ group when it’s set up Kathy.

Hi Team! I'm Allie and I live in North Carolina and am on Eastern Time. I love this challenge and I think it's either my second or third time playing. The majority of what I read is romance but sometimes I do like to switch it up to other genres such as mystery/thrillers or horror. I don't really have any team names at the moment that I can think of but if I do think of any I will make sure to update!

My name is Bray and this is my first Bachelor reading challenge, so bear with me. I am from Montana, MST! I have been so busy the past couple of weeks with my best friend's wedding there has not been much time for me to just sit back and read, so I am very excited about this challenge. I typically read a book every two days. I dabble in many romance subgenres, but I have learned that contemporary and sports are my favorite. Like Allie I also ready mystery and thrillers!

I do not have a preference for a name, just here to go with the flow :)

I listed all the suggested team names in post 19...if you have any other names, just post them...I have to say that I love Taming of the TBR...especially since the movie Ten Things I Hate About You is loosely based on Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew...I suggested tweaking the name a bit to Taming of the Bachelor.
