The Catholic Book Club discussion

We have read before, in the club, books against the current dominant ideology, such as three books by Cardinal Sarah, The Restoration of Christian Culture by John Senior, or Strangers in a Strange Land: Living the Catholic Faith in a Post-Christian World by Charles Chaput. How does this book compare with others in your opinion?

My favorite among all the books mentioned in the opening post, was “God or Nothing” by Cardinal Sarah. I still like it more than “The idol of our age”.

I have liked Mahoney’s book more than Archbishop Chaput’s book, and also more than Cardinal Sarah’s “The power of silence”.

I liked Cardinal Sarah's God or Nothing: A Conversation on Faith and The Day is Now Far Spent more than Mahoney's book, and The Power of Silence: Against the Dictatorship of Noise about the same. I liked Senior's book somewhat less.

We also read the Benedict Option - how does it rank with these others?

I may be mistaken, but I think "The Benedict Option" put more emphasis on trying to find a solution to current problems than on diagnosing them, as the other books I mentioned. And I don't believe that the solution is setting groups of families following the rule of St. Benedict.
