5%: (view spoiler)[ So far we have the witches who seem fantastic and the new King Ghost. It was nice to see Death again for a quick second. I really think I will enjoy this story as it seems to be off to a great start. Hopefully my attention doesn't wander like it has done in previous books in the series. (hide spoiler)]

11%: (view spoiler)[ I love the fact that Granny Weatherwax doesn't understand that the play isn't real and gets very involved with her commentary. This whole part was so funny!

I also am enjoying the descriptions of the characters. For instance with Olwyn he is described as "been badly savaged by a mustache." and Nanny is "as gummy as a baby and had a face like a small dried raisin." (hide spoiler)]

This is my favorite book in the series so far. It's funny, I love the witches and except for a small portion I thought the plot moved along.

Sounds good... planning to read over the weekend...

There's alot more romances in these books than I expected...

Easy to rate my Discworld reads, so far:

1) Witches (Wyrd Sisters / Equal Rites)
2) Death (Mort)
3) Rincewind (Light Fantastic // Color of Magic / Sourcery)

Sorted in order by series in parentheses, altho I'm least sure about Color of Magic / Sourcery placement...

I love the fact Death appears in all the books... just hearing the narrator change puts a smile on my face when he appears out of the blue... he didn't really appear too much more in Mort than he does in other books... so I don't rate Mort on Death, so much as Mort & other characters / plotline...

So glad you enjoyed it! I remember really liking this one though details are fuzzy :D I just need a Discworld break before jumping back in so I'll be late.

A very surprisingly beautiful opening with the storm! What tremendous writing!!!

This was awesome! I am a humongous fan of Shakespeare, so this homage to his plays was awesome!!! On top of that, I loved the emphasis on Words as Magic! It is wonderful because it's so true! And, of course, Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg are what I want to be when I grow up! Loved every second of it!

It's great... I've seen some reviewers compare it to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead for it's flipping of the narrative...

Reminded me of that Shakespeare episode of Doctor Who with the witches... and an Iron Druid short story we read recently...

When Margaret was watching the Fool and Tomjon I suspected they were related. What I didn't anticipate was thay yes, they were related to each other but not to the king (hide spoiler)]

Almost finished. I think I liked this one the best so far. It was humorous and fairly entertaining. I do think I’m missing something by listening to them via audiobook. I just don’t think the narration is great. Next one I’ll eye read.

Pretty much agree with this. Finally finished today. I missed where ever it was alluded to that (view spoiler)[Tomjon and The fool look similar until the very end. Was it mentioned at any other point? (hide spoiler)]

First when the Fool met Tomjon and it felt like he seemed very familiar, then when Margaret started observing them when together...

Nana Ogg kept giving the younger witch (view spoiler)[a hard time, to look closer at The Fool, earlier in the story... can't remember anything else off the top of my head... (hide spoiler)]

I'm embarrassed that it took me about 15% into the story--when (view spoiler)[the Duke is washing his hands and the blood won't come off (hide spoiler)]--for me to realize this was a Shakespeare homage... Starting off MacBeth, but maybe some Hamlet in the coming? About 20% in and enjoying this the most of the lot so far.

24% in--(view spoiler)[Ah, a fool and a crazy king! King Lear! (hide spoiler)] I'm having fun trying to identify which part is inspired by which play... Only catching tragedies so far.

30% LOL "Lawn ornament" is an insult in Dwarvish.

Haha! Isn't it awesome! Such a mishmash of all of them! And the Dwarfish insult is hilarious:)

38% Granny "running up and down outside trying to get her broomstick started" makes me think of all the things folk have to do to coax an old car to start...

You are not kidding! And then we have today, when my friend refused to even consider buying a car without heated seats and remote start .. We have been so spoiled!

Finished! Definitely my favorite of the bunch so far, even if I still feel like the "plot" was rather messy... I loved all the Shakespeare calll-outs...

Messy is a good word for it. I thought the same when I read it. This one is my favorite so far but I agree that the plot was a bit all over the place.

I guess we just have to like the mess to like the books...

Getting started on this tonight. I remember really enjoying this so I'm excited :D

That scene is classic!!! Granny is my favorite character!

I like this quote from page 80 of my book, which is 24%:

I am bit late to the party but this is the next book for me to read in the series and it has been 9 months since I have finished Sourcery and I need to get back on track with it.

At page 135 which is 40% (view spoiler)[I love how everyone else is freaked out about having a trapped witch while the King and Queen are clueless at how it's such a Bad Idea. Nanny just finds it interesting. Granny is pissed, though less at Nanny's situation and more at the unfounded rumors. And Magrat may have the romance thread?

As mentioned above, Granny having to running start her broomstick is definitely a nod to old cars that needed a running start :) (hide spoiler)]

Apparently there's also a full-length animated film of Wyrd Sisters that was made by Cosgrove Hall in 1997 freely available on YouTube. I haven't watched it yet but though I'd share the link if anyone was interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGKP2...

Took a peek at the movie and it's a bit weird hearing the same lines being said so slow after listening to the audio at 3x speed... LOL. It seems to hit a lot of the salient parts. The animation looks weird to me though--I'm spoiled by pretty anime people.
