Utopian fiction discussion

Okay, so here's my problem: I loved A Half-Built Garden and A Psalm for the Wild-Built, and I have zero complaints about these books, BUT I am interested in contemporary fiction that has that future-orientation with some beautiful world-building, but without the robots or aliens.
I've also read the likes of Pacific Edge but didn't find the world-building as exciting. So, what I am looking for is that grounded future like KSR and that fun, well thought-out world-building of Emrys and Chambers. I'd love to hear suggestions and get some folks joining the group!
