Ben punches a bully in the face after he was attacked while defending another kid that was being harassed. However, in the process, his head hits the floor hard. The school has a zero tolerance for fighting so both boys get suspended. Fair or are there other alternatives? Were you worried at the time that Ben had injured himself?

My oldest was caught up in this situation when a friend of hers was attacked. Cassi hit the attacker and they all three were suspended. I don't agree with the policy, but it shifts the burden to the students. I was very concerned that Ben had a concussion.

I think since they suspended both of the boys, it's fair. Yes, the boy who was harassing the other kid definitely needed punched; but the school is trying to teach both of them that fighting is not the answer. They want them to use their brains and figure out another way to take care of the situation.
